Imagine this: Your team has barely any time left on the clock, and if you don’t think fast and make a play, then you gonna have your 2nd desperate loss of the season. Well, Shedeur Sanders did not waste any time in launching his Hail Mary to LaJohntay Wester, pushing the Buffs to overtime and then finally grabbing the dub against Baylor. Now, imagine this; despite you doing all that, you still lose out on the attention and fame you deserve.
Ryan Wilson took to X on October 4th to share what former NFL GM Rick Spielman had to say about who is going to be the first overall pick in the 2025 draft. “As we sit here, who’s going first overall?” Wilson asked. “I’m sticking with Travis Hunter,” was Spielman’s instant response. Now here’s the fun part. Wilson does note that currently, Carson Beck is the favorite, followed by Quinn Ewers, Shedeur Sanders, and then Jalen Milroe. However, Spielman did not change his decision.

We ain’t gonna steal away Travis Hunter’s thunder. This guy has been on blast since the Rams game. After breaking a 26-year-old record during the Rocky Mountain Showdown by bringing in 13 catches, 100 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception, Travis Hunter went on to help the Buffs grab the dub against Baylor during overtime with a game-winning fumble.
And he did not stop. When the Buffs went up against UCF, Hunter recreated the same thing he pulled against the Rams QB. He intercepted a pass from Knights QB KJ Jefferson and managed to return the ball. Striking the iconic Heisman pose after making that play. If Hunter wasn’t the talk of the town already, he sure did become one after that play.
However, here’s our take: While Hunter is somewhat of a miracle in CFB, you still cannot ignore what Sheduer Sanders is doing for the Buffs. The first 2 games (NDSU and Huskers) were rough for the QB. However, he did show progress and promise after the Buffs entered Week 4.

Shedeur Sanders is still in the race
As we pointed out before, if it wasn’t for Shedeur’s fast thinking and pinpoint accuracy the Buffs would’ve easily lost to Baylor. If you roll back the tape and check that very moment in the 4th quarter, you will notice that Shedeur was stuck in a collapsing pocket. Baylor’s defense line almost broke through and had the hit on the QB.
But he still managed to make the play before any of it happened. Shedeur has already managed to rack up around 1600+ yards along with 14 touchdowns and 3 interceptions in just 5 games combined. This guy has the potential to be the next top pick.

If we check back, after Deion Sanders decided to bring Pat Shurmur to the team, Shedeur’s overall presence from the pocket and on the turf has improved by a huge margin. He does not hold onto the ball for too long and knows when he has to make the pass. The thing right now is we still gotta wait and watch what finally happens as the season progresses further. Will Buffs continue to push forward with the same momentum or will the dynasty come crashing down? Let us know what you think.
