Was there anything good about Colorado Buffaloes versus Kansas State for the latter? Not only did they lose at the Folsom Field, 28-31, but their two-way superstar Travis Hunter got injured. He picked a right shoulder injury after he got hit by Kansas State safety Daniel Cobbs’s helmet. After the damage, the player didn’t return to play as Kansas State mounted three straight scoring drives. Then, other players who got injured were Jimmy Horn Jr., Omarion Miller, and Terrell Timmons.
This brought up a lot of questions and the biggest was: Will Hunter play against Arizona?
Well, as per Deion Sanders’s update, he will! “Travis should play for certain on Saturday, Jimmy [Horn] as well,” he stated at his weekly news conference on Tuesday. We are sure the confirmation for Prime Time has likely brought a lot of relief to Colorado Buffaloes fans. Jimmy Horn Jr. is also likely to return against Arizona.

This is great news. In fact, Travis Hunter’s mother, Ferrante Harris, took to her Instagram stories to share a powerful message for her son. “Ma’am/Sir turn that pain into purpose! You got this! Go start the business! Go be great! Go do something nice for yourself! Go put you first!”
We are sure this will motivate Travis Hunter to get back strong. In fact, Deion Sanders sharing a positive update is huge because Hunter is in candidacy for the Heisman Trophy. He has been ranked as one of the top two favorites to win the award.

Plus Colorado’s upcoming game is an important one. They are gearing up to face one of the nation’s top receivers: Tetairoa McMillan of Arizona. McMillan ranked third nationally in receiving yards per game with 123.7 and so for the Buffs to keep him contained, they will need their best players and also better play from Shilo Sanders, who was criticized by his coach and father for a bad performance against Kansas State.
While Coach Prime has a lot to look forward to, there is something he needs to address. It is Travis Hunter.
Is Deion Sanders risking Travis Hunter’s health?
If you would ask Jason Whitlock this question, he would say yes! “Deion Sanders is the reason Travis Hunter got hurt,” he opined.
“Deion Sanders thinks he’s reinvented football… ‘I can take a 21-year-old kid with amazing talent, and I can play him both ways—virtually every snap—for an entire season because I’m Deion Sanders and I say so’.” Whitlock criticized. Before his right shoulder injury, Travis Hunter was on the field for 44 of the game’s 45 snaps (23 snaps on offense and 21 on defense). Additionally, this season, he has been averaging 124 snaps per game.

Whitlock explained, “Deion Sanders, in his pursuit to elevate himself, has diminished Travis Hunter [and] put him in harm’s way.”
People are starting to wonder if Travis Hunter is stretching himself too thin. Remember how he got injured in 2023 too? He suffered a lacerated liver on a late hit by Colorado State safety Henry Blackburn. The two-way star missed a couple of games before he could return. But here’s the thing. Hunter could have suffered such hits even if he was not playing two-way.

Well, ultimately it is Deion Sanders’s decision, and Travis Hunter seems on board with it. In fact, he is willing to put in extra work for the Heisman trophy. If he wins it, he would be the only defensive player to win the award besides legendary safety Charles Woodson.
