Does Travis Hunter's connection with his team make him the heart and soul of Colorado football?

Hunter! Hunter! Hunter! These are the chants that stem from the community of college football as the fans seem to have made their pick for the winner of this season’s Heisman Trophy. As of now, the Colorado WR, as well as cornerback, has recorded over 46 receptions, with 561 yards and a staggering 6 touchdowns for 5 games. If the Buffaloes were to make it to the playoffs by some miracle, the team would very well have Travis Hunter’s talents and explosiveness to express sheer gratitude for. The game against the UCF Knights on 28th September secured Hunter’s chances of winning the trophy this year, and joining the wave of Buffs’ fans who are celebrating him is his mother, who penned down an emotional note for the Colorado prodigy.

On 28th September, Ferrante Edmonds, the mother of Travis Hunter, took to Instagram to express her feelings of pride for her son as the popularity around his name continues to witness a drastic rise. Additionally, the caption also included a clapback to all the people who didn’t treat her right regarding the birth of Travis himself.

All these college football players, on the epitome of their careers, love to be loved by the fans, but to receive admiration from one’s own mother is something that supersedes all, which is what Hunter must be feeling today. On the contrary, Deion was left with an undying itch after Hunter’s brilliant performance against the Knights and had a few words to say.

Deion left “upset” with Travis Hunter’s unfulfilled streak against UCF

Travis Hunter has been pouring his blood, sweat, and tears throughout this season and put up 89 receiving yards against UCF. He’s undoubtedly the biggest weapon in Colorado’s arsenal, and the nation knows it, too. With such an aura of praise surrounding Hunter, Deion was left with one bothersome thought that upset him about Hunter’s performance. During a post-game interview, Deion revealed that he was quite “upset” that Hunter broke his streak of consecutive 100-yard receiving games.

Coach Prime spoke about the missed milestone and said, “We were really upset because they just told me he needed like 10 more yards to consistently have his 100-yard streak. We were gonna try to get it to him but we didn’t want to be outlandish or do anything crazy to provoke ignorance. But Travis is OK with it. He’s not playing for that. He’s just playing for – he wants to be one of the best players in college football. And I think he is. I wish to God that the game was in a way that we could’ve kept going with his 100-yard mark, even though he don’t care, we care.”

Though Hunter missed this streak opportunity, he has better records to look forward to with this season, which seems to be going so well for him at the moment. And the fans can’t wait to see him shatter more and more glass ceilings in the path to his glory.
