“HE12MAN”. Travis Hunter is THE player on the Buffs roster. Out in the sea of bad choices that Deion Sanders had once made, Hunter shines like a diamond in the rough. The Buffs are standing on the 3-1 run for the 2024 season and much of the credit should go to Hunter. While against NDSU and the Huskers, Travis Hunter’s performance did leave much to be desired. The Rams and the Baylor game switched things up really fast. And honestly, if you thought his fans and Coach Prime were the main pillars of support for Hunter and his success, then you’d be so wrong.
An amazing WR and a CB. Solid game sense and presence. Good grades as well. And the cherry on the cake? A loving and supportive fiancee. Leanna Lenee has been standing on the sidelines and supporting Hunter through everything. After the Baylor win, Hunter and Lenee couldn’t stop from engaging in a warm embrace. On September 28th, Hunter took to his Instagram to share the picture. “1 of 1 👑” Hunter wrote in the caption of the post. Lenee was in tears, and rightfully so. Her support paid off. While Baylor was quite the foe, Shedeur Sanders’ Hail Mary to LaJohntay Wester managed to drag the game into overtime.

And Hunter’s game-winning fumble sealed the deal and managed to get Buffs the 38-31 win. Shedeur Sanders was quick to arrive under the comment section of Hunter’s Instagram post and leave a heart emoji. These 2 dudes also have quite the bond. The post-game vlog on Hunter’s YouTube channel showed Shedeur approaching Hunter and giving him a warm hug. Not only that, but this guy also managed to sneak in quite a brotherly kiss.
“Stop kissing me bruh,” Hunter said jokingly while pushing Shedeur away. It’s wild to think that in just 4 games, Travis Hunter has already managed to bring in 37 catches. When we compare this to his 2023 season performance, Hunter had around 57 catches (all the games combined). It ain’t no wonder why he is the talk of the town. It all started during the Rocky Mountain Showdown, though.
With Hunter managing to land 2 touchdowns and getting 13 catches, the cream of the crop came when Hunter intercepted a pass from the Rams’ QB. Following this, like Neo, Hunter managed to dodge almost every single defender and returned the ball to 38 yards. It felt like it was 1999 all over again and we were watching The Matrix. With all the shenanigans Hunter has pulled, it has skyrocketed his Heisman chances. However, there’s always a catch.

Standing on a +3500 odds, Travis Hunter has occupied the 12th spot on the Heisman ladder. On September 26th, former 49ers WR Terrell Owens even pointed out that Hunter is a mirror image of prime Deion Sanders. “You don’t, you don’t, you don’t find many players like that. Um, and Travis is definitely one of those guys,” Owens had noted.
Hunter’s ability to nail as a WR and a CB is quite amazing. While back in 2023, his skills on the defense were lacking and were average at best. This year he has made the improvements, and it was clear how well he had become after the Rams and the Baylor game. All of this does mean he will get an easy ticket to New York, right? Well, not really.

Back on the Rich Eisen Show, Rich Eisen pointed out that Hunter’s record won’t really matter because people already know how good this guy is. What will matter is his health. “If he is healthy, we will see him in New York,” Eisen noted. Last year, Hunter suffered a lacerated liver injury, and it did affect his performance by quite a margin.
This year, he cannot afford any such mistakes. While we already know that this guy loves pushing himself to the edge and more so in the final moments of the game where everyone has barely any gas left, Hunter still has to be careful. This guy is one of the frontrunners in the Heisman race and any Buffs fan would want it to stay that way.
