Home/College Football

Travis Hunter‘s family might be the only one in college football catching heat even when they’re just minding their business. And this time, it ain’t even Travis in the crosshairs. His little bro, Trayvis Hunter, just got his first real taste of internet hate after turning heads at OT7. Wild, right? You’d think a 17-year-old showing out would get love, but nope—haters gotta hate. But Travis Hunter Sr. ain’t letting that slide. He stepped in with a bold 5-word message for Trayvis after the unnecessary OT7 drama started flying.

On March 17th, Travis Hunter’s father, Travis Hunter Sr., decided he’d had enough of the online chirping. He took to Instagram story to post a highlight reel of his son Trayvis doing his thing on the OT7 stage—snagging a touchdown with that tight-window catch like it was nothing. And the caption? A short, five-word bomb that summed up everything perfectly: “Talk yo Sh– son son.” Straight to the point, no sugarcoating, and definitely no apologies.

Now, you’d think a kid putting in work and balling out at OT7 would be something to celebrate, right? But nah, it’s the internet we’re talking about. Instead of acknowledging Trayvis’ undeniable talent, trolls were more interested in roasting the Hunter parents for their “lack of creativity” when naming their sons. Yeah, you read that right. Some genius out there thought it was funny to drag them for naming their boys Travis and Trayvis. One commenter even joked, “How you gonna name a kid Travis and the next one you’re like whatever just throw a Y in there somewhere lol.” Like, really? Y’all mad about their parents’ creativity? But no one could talk trash about Trayvis’s game, just like they can’t find fault in Travis Hunter, the Heisman-level playmaker at Colorado.

Meanwhile, Trayvis is out here making his name known at OT7, a stage that’s basically a stepping stone to the NFL. Over 30% of players from past OT7s have made it to the big leagues. And on day one of this year’s competition, all eyes and nose were on Trayvis. The kid was out there catching deep passes like he was born to do it. The sophomore wide receiver from Effingham County High School in Springfield, Georgia, racked up 496 receiving yards and six touchdowns in just 9 games last year. Lil Bro’s already pulling in offers from places like Tennessee State University, Jackson State University, and Georgia State University. If that’s ain’t impressive, we don’t know what is.

While Trayvis is fighting his own battle, his big bro Travis Hunter isn’t exactly coasting. The big leagues are calling, and not everyone thinks he’s ready for the two-way smoke. Turns out, he’s got his own beef to squash—though this one’s coming from someone with actual credibility.

Travis Hunter gets a reality check on playing 2-way in the NFL by Kelce

While Trayvis is getting his first taste of online drama, Travis Hunter is dealing with a different kind of heat. This time, it’s coming from Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, who recently questioned whether Hunter could realistically pull off playing both ways in the NFL.

Kelce dropped his thoughts on the New Heights podcast, and he wasn’t exactly doubting Hunter’s talent. It was more like a wake-up call. “He’s gonna have to prove that he can do it,” Kelce said, sounding like a wise big bro rather than a hater. He mentioned how even Deion Sanders, one of the greatest two-way players ever, had specific packages rather than trying to be everywhere at once. The physical toll, Kelce suggested, might just be too much.

You’d expect Travis to clap back with some smoke, right? But nah, he kept it cool. “Like he said, I have to prove that I can do it,” Hunter responded on his own podcast. “So that’s my main thing. Imma prove that I’m gonna do it, and I can do it. So he’s not telling no lie. I still got to prove it.” It’s not like Hunter’s just talking the talk, either. Last season at Colorado, he put up ridiculous numbers—96 receptions for 1,258 yards and 15 touchdowns on offense, while also making 35 tackles, grabbing four interceptions, and defending 11 passes on defense. To say the kid is versatile is an understatement.

Look, Kelce wasn’t even trying to bring him down. He was just pointing out the harsh reality of the NFL grind. Because yeah, doing both at the college level is one thing, but keeping that same energy in the pros? That’s a whole new level.

And you know what? Hunter’s not backing down one bit. If anything, it’s more fuel for the fire. And considering he’s projected to be a top-three pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the pressure’s only gonna get heavier. But if there’s one thing we’ve learned about the Hunter family, it’s that they don’t fold under pressure. They step up, talk their sh–, and prove the haters wrong every single time.
