Travis Hunter once again reminded everyone of his Heisman Trophy credentials in the win over Cincinnati. The two-way star had nine catches for 153 yards, including a 34-yard TD grab just before halftime. This performance which included two tackles and breaking four passes, has seen him go from being outside the top four in Heisman odds to second place. But that isn’t the only accolade Hunter is eyeing.
Apart from being a charismatic coach, Deion Sanders enjoys his life as a father to five children, two of whom play under him at the Buffs. In the most Coach Prime way, Sanders has a power ranking system for all his children which he updates for his followers to check quite often. Just last month he made a post on Instagram revealing that his daughter Deiondra is currently at the top of his kids rankings. Well, when talking about Deion’s favorites, Travis Hunter isn’t far away.
Hunter followed Sanders to Jackson State and then to Colorado and they have been seen hanging out together on many occasions, with fishing being a common activity of interest. Sanders has also passionately talked about Hunter and even labeled him as the “best football player in the country.” Hence, Hunter wasted no time in claiming that he was at the top of Sanders’ kids ranking.

Deion Sanders uploaded a video on Tuesday featuring Hunter with the caption, “@db3_tip said he’s top of the rankings, #coachPrime,” referencing his ranking system for his children. In the video, Hunter is heard saying, “I got something you ain’t got. 1 of 1. LeBron bruh. You can say I’m clearly the favorite at this point. Like, when I’m not involved in ranking, you just know I’m, like, above everybody. So just know that I’m the favorite.”
Well, if you are confused about the LeBron and the 1-of-1 reference, Hunter is pointing toward the pair of exclusive LeBron sneakers that he took from Coach Prime’s office. In a video shared by his coach two days ago, we see Hunter picking up the special LeBron kicks as Sanders confronts him asking, “Look, let me get this straight. What are you doing in my office? You’re just gonna come in here and shop dawg?” Hunter quickly replied, “I needed some shoes, bruh.”
Not to be outsmarted, Sanders responded while laughing, “How do you need some shoes? You know you have contacts, money…oh my goodness. Those are vintage. I think they call them Bron Prime or I think they call them Brom Prime or I think they call them Prime Brons. You’re lucky I got two pairs. You are roguish, you do know that, right? Do you know what the word’ roguish means? It means you’re a thief.”
It seems Sanders ended up giving Hunter the pair that were a gift from LeBron. Hence by flaunting them in the more recent video, Hunter tries to solidify his claim as the favorite. Their interaction also highlights the bond they share while this isn’t the first time Hunter has taken something from his coach.

Back in August, he showed off a hat that he openly admitted he “stole” from Deion Sanders. Hunter’s attempt at being a Coach Prime favorite is nothing new as well. After the Cincinnati win, which secured the Buffs bowl eligibility, Sanders uploaded a photo with Shilo and Shedeur celebrating a heartfelt moment with his sons.

While Deion Sanders Jr. hasn’t responded to Travis Hunter’s claim of being Deion Sanders’s favorite, he shared Nice Kicks’ tweet on his Instagram story. Last summer, Deion Jr. was ranked first in his father’s rankings, followed by Shelomi, Shedeur Sanders, Deiondra, and, finally, Shilo.
As the Buffs fans celebrate their team’s bowl eligibility, the attention will turn to whether Hunter can clinch the Heisman Trophy.
