Travis Hunter's engagement break: A well-deserved pause or a distraction from CU Buffs' camp chaos?

The soon-to-be groom, Travis Hunter is taking a well-deserved break from the chaos of his practice sessions.

With his wedding set for May 24th, he’s got way more time on his hands. But he’s already planning every detail to make sure all goes smoothly on the big day. Last week, he reached out to videographers and bakers in the Chattanooga area, giving a hint about the wedding venue. Now, he and his fiancée, Lenna Lenee, are celebrating with a post-engagement party for friends and fam.

On August 20th, the couple shared a full-length video on their YouTube channel, capturing their weekend party mode. The video kicks off with Hunter excitedly saying, “We got the game man, we got Shemar, we got my dad,” and mentions that they’ve got “paintballing, a whole bunch of stuff today man.” It looks like his groomsmen were all there for the fun, including Leanna’s brother, Kaden, and Hunter’s best friend, Shemar. The group headed to Blitz Paintball for some action-packed games.

Meanwhile, the girls were enjoying a more relaxing time. “We’re at the spa,” Lenna Lenee says, showing her friends and family, including Travis’s mother, joining in. She explains, “This is going to be our engagement celebration weekend. We are doing girls and boys separate, and Saturday we will be together.”

Hunter, who proposed back in February, isn’t missing any opportunity to celebrate with those closest to him. While Lenna opted for a laid-back weekend, Travis and the guys kept the adrenaline pumping with paintball, basketball games, and a mini-trek in the mountains. It’s uncertain whether this break is a way for Hunter to relax or to boost his energy before the Big 12 matchups. Either way, it’s a well-deserved distraction from the intense practice fields.

Travis Hunter stays secure amidst practice

The Buffaloes are gearing up for their first game against North Dakota on August 29th. And with the Big 12 matchups just days away, Travis Hunter could use a breather. For months, the two-way star has been putting in work—grinding through intense drills with his wide receivers and flexing his strength in the weight room. But despite all that effort, Hunter was noticeably absent from the Buffs’ open practice on Friday.

The event at Denver’s All-City Stadium saw a massive crowd of 5,000 eager fans. But unfortunately, Hunter wasn’t there to soak in the atmosphere. Soon, this sparked rumors of an injury, but Coach Prime was quick to shut them down. “Travis is good. We just wanted to get him some rest,” Sanders clarified. It’s a smart move, keeping one of their key players fresh with just a handful of days left before crucial games begin. Well, even amid intense practice sessions, Deion Sanders made sure to protect his star players all along.

Since the start of fall practice in August, he’s been firm, warning, “Don’t get near the quarterback. Leave Travis alone.” It’s clear Sanders wants Hunter healthy and ready to kick off the season strong.
