Looks like no one is ready to leave their place. That’s the charm of the muscular footballer bronze trophy. With only two months left for the 2024 season to drop the curtains, the Heisman race drama has reached its peak. And what’s drama without a touch of Colorado Buffaloes dual-threat Travis Hunter’s haughty commentary? And guess this time who fell prey to Hunter’s snobbish remarks? The Boise State Broncos RB and his Heisman competitor, Ashton Jeanty. But so what Jeanty got a shade from the Buffs’ two-way star? He has now landed praise from his HC.
Hunter never runs low on confidence. After all, take a look at the jersey he dons, black and gold. When Deion Sanders is around, it’s a sin to feel underconfident. Right from the beginning of the season, the Buffs two-way threat was hailed as the Dark Horse. But then came a time, when he got replaced by the Boise State Broncos RB Jeanty. All thanks to his boisterous feat against the Miami Hurricanes. He stole all the limelight being in charge of the pigskin and carrying it for 31 times for 217 yards. But he too fell prey to an ugly fate going all quiet during the Broncos face-off against San Diego State. So, now Hunter is back on track and has already impressed with his stats. It’s now time for him to mold with his words. On The Travis Hunter Show, Deion’s dual-threat delved straight into business, “Would you rather take a running back over me?”

On the other side was his special guest, the Colorado Buffaloes alumnus, and record-breaking walk-on running back, Charlie Offerdahl. So, this was his smart way to openly challenge Jeanty by not taking his name as he went, “Or would you take a two-way player over me?” Yes, that’s how confident Hunter is about his two-way skills. While he went all anonymous in his own podcast, on the Outta Pocket with RGIII podcast, he had let his guards down and took the Broncos RB’s name openly. “I know I can win it, but I don’t know who’s there. I mean y’all see Ashton Jeanty, it’s not like we haven’t seen a running back that’s good. We haven’t seen a player that plays both ways and I’m gonna keep saying that,” Hunter went subtly arrogant with his statement. Is this going to hurt any Jeanty in any way?

Time for Travis Hunter to be mindful of his take on Ashton Jeanty
After being in the back seat for quite some time now, Jeanty is slowly climbing the Heisman ladder. He continued to impress with his standout performance as against San Jose State. He set a single-season school rushing record that helped the Broncos to claim a 42-21 win. The RB rushed for 159 yards and three touchdowns that shot up his record to 1,893 rushing yards in just 10 games and 256 carries.
This was enough to break Jay Ajayi’s previous mark in 2014. Not just this. With this, Jeanty was able to maintain a streak of 100+ yards in back-to-back 10 games. That’s what you call a classy comeback, isn’t it? Now the hopes surrounding Huner’s competitor are even higher since the last time an RB bagged the prize was back in 2015 when Derrick Henry won. And this was enough for the Boise State HC to go head-over-heels for Jeanty.

“He’s the best football player in the country. He is also a big-time leader and an elite human being,” commented the HC. Does that mean Travis Hunter’s big talks would go in vain? In that case, Ashton Jeanty’s dream to form the ‘shortest backfield’ in the NFL will finally come true.
