With Ashton Jeanty faltering, is the Heisman Trophy now Travis Hunter's to lose?

No other Buff is as lucky as Colorado’s dual-threat Travis Hunter. And let me tell you not even Shedeur Sanders. Wondering what’s causing this emotion? Deion Sanders’ two-way star has now become the attention magnet. No, this time not only from fans, but from the legends. One of them was Pat McAfee who sang Hunter’s praise that made its way into the player’s IG story. Now that the dual-threat has reinserted himself in the Heisman conversation, what do you think fate has in store for him? Let me tell you the good part, timing seems to be in Hunter’s favor since his biggest competitor Ashton Jeanty is on a backfoot now and would be out of the race anytime soon.

Finally, FINALLY, our favorite Hunter is back in his original form, just the way we would like it. After all, the Buffs fans are used to seeing their dual-threat always at the top. So when updates started to drop that Hunter was not doing quite well in the Heisman race, it left the Colorado fans crestfallen. But must say, what a comeback! Even legends like McAfee could not resist himself from giving a big shoutout to Deion’s two-way phenom on IG that was such a big honor in itself that Hunter too couldn’t stop from hitting the reshare button.

First things first, the picture is what star power literally means. Surrounded by McAfee, GOAT Nick Saban, and sportscaster Kirk Herbstreit, Hunter is in the middle as if he got mobbed. But who wouldn’t love to get mobbed by such legends? And here comes the best part, the caption that McAfee posted exclusively for the Buffs phenom. “GREAT to meet the legend, @db3_tip..🗣️🗣️ GO GET THE HEISMAN,” wrote the former Indianapolis Colts punter. It was evident that the picture was taken at the College GameDay.

Hunter has appeared on ESPN’s show ahead of Penn State’s face-off against Ohio State. On the show, the two-way phenom spoke about the effort he puts in. “I try to get at least 10 hours of film, not including what we do at the school. And practice, it’s got to be full speed, nobody can stop you. I mean, Coach Prime tries to stop me every day I’m out there, and I won’t let him… I’m playing 100 percent, no matter who’s in front of me,” Hunter told ESPN. Are these efforts going to vain?

A new chance for Travis Hunter to shine

Initially, it looked like it would be for the first time that Hunter would not be able to make Deion and the Buffs proud. But gradually, things are likely to fall into place. There came a time around mid-October when Jeanty reeled in all the attention after he helped his team Boise State Broncos crush the Utah State Aggies 62-30. In that particular game, the Broncos RB himself carried the ba-l 31 times for 217 yards. This was enough for Jeanty to beat Hunter.

To be very honest it had got nothing to do with the Buffs’ two-way star’s talent. But the timing was not right since during the same week Hunter couldn’t put up great numbers as he got sidelined after a shoulder injury in Colorado’s match-up against Kansas State. However, things have turned out in your favor, Buffs fans.

What’s your perspective on:

With Ashton Jeanty faltering, is the Heisman Trophy now Travis Hunter's to lose?

Have an interesting take?

Right now, Ashton Jeanty is almost nearing the exit gate, since he had been quiet in showing his dominance over San Diego State on November 1. In the first half, the RB came up with only 15 carries for just 37 yards! Going by the hush-hush game, a left elbow injury that he sustained while playing against UNLV seems to be bothering him till now. Time for Travis Hunter to get on the Heisman train as he is coming off with +150 odds. Pretty strong, isn’t it?
