Staying near great people allows their greatness to permeate through you via osmosis. But when the blood coursing through your veins is the same, that’s when special things happen. Travis Hunter has been captivating the football sphere with his brilliance for a minute. It’s only right that younger brother Trayvis Hunter adds to the lineage. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows.

Trayvis Hunter is a stud in his own right. Exclusively a WR, unlike his brother, Trayvis is a sophomore in high school. He was down at Overtime’s prestigious 7v7 in Dallas, hoping to make inroads with scouts and schools before his imminent ascension to College Football. Something that’s proven to be a bit of a sticking point so far. While Travis Hunter was subject to more scholarship offers than he could ever reciprocate coming out of HS, Trayvis has attracted only 4 so far. Something their father, Travis Hunter Sr., is trying to work towards changing.

Imitation is the best form of flattery. Trayvis wears the same #12 jersey as Travis Hunter. He’s the spitting image of Travis when running down the perimeter if you weren’t any wiser. So it’s only right he recreated one of Travis’ iconic celebrations when he took a trip to the endzone during the aforementioned OT7 camp. No surprise their dad cosigned the celly over on Instagram, before sending a subtle, subliminal message to schools across the country. The implied premise of which is rather straightforward- don’t sleep on my kid.

Travis Hunter Sr. posted a string of videos relaying his son’s performance during the camp. Repping C1N, a team run by both his and Travis’ mentor Cam Newton, Trayvis opened the scoring with a receiving touchdown on 2nd and Goal from the 3. He followed this with a dance which social media quickly picked up was an ode to Travis. It’d have been extra sweet too, given the opposition team is run by Cam’s fellow ex-pro Robert Griffin III. The father included this dance as well as a side-by-side comp with Travis Hunter in his IG story dump. But celebrations and pageantry aside, he followed this up with a strong 3-word message. “Just Another Hunter” wrote Sr., alongside a video of Trayvis running a sick route and leaving his defender in his wake.

Travis Hunter is unequivocally one of the freakiest athletes in the country right now. You’d expect someone from the FBS to take a punt on his gene pool and hand an offer to Trayvis. However, that’s not how things have transpired. Trayvis currently holds a trifecta of HBCU offers, including one from Jackson State. Where Travis’ own collegiate journey under Deion Sanders began. Sr. has made his plea and there’s decent footage to back it up. With the recruiting class of 2027 still a fair way away, it remains to be seen if any more suitors take him up. “Another Hunter” sure does sound like an enticing prospect. That said, who are these trailblazers that’ve taken an early leap of faith and extended scholarships to Trayvis Hunter?

It’s only right a couple of in-state schools have offered Springfield, Georgia native Trayvis Hunter. Would he like it to be the Bulldogs from Athens? Sure. What’s your perspective on:

Is the lack of offers for Trayvis Hunter a sign of overlooked talent or just early days?

Have an interesting take?

As aforementioned, Trayvis does have the opportunity to follow in Travis Hunter’s footsteps at Jackson State. Conceded, the program isn’t quite as attractive a proposition as it was under Coach Prime. But he did leave them in a better state than most HBCUs in terms of infrastructure and facilities. Lastly, Trayvis has an offer from Tennessee State.

It’s certain more scholarships will indeed follow in due time. But the caliber of said scholarships remains to be seen. Travis Hunter Sr. will hope his flurry of posts won’t fall on blind eyes and deaf ears. As for Trayvis, he’s got to keep his head down and work on his craft. Albeit, the odd celebratory dance sure won’t hurt.
