“He has elite change of direction. Elite. His b–l skills are also elite. He’s got long levers.” Whenever we decide to drop by r/CFB, people either praise or hate Travis Hunter. Now, this clear divide between fans and haters is understandable. However, what is more surprising than this are the posts on r/NFL. Over there, it’s not about Hunter being mid or ungodly – it is more so about which team would be lucky enough to grab him. From the top of our heads, we have 2 guesses: Patriots and Titans. New England needs Drake Maye‘s perfect pairing, and who could be better than Hunter? And for Titans? Well, they are in a bit of a pickle. Cam Ward or Travis Hunter is Tennessee’s biggest question.
But maybe, on Colorado’s Pro Day, both Patriots and Titans will finally get the answers they were looking for? “First heard from multiple people. Travis Hunter is not doing anything today… This morning, things changed. Gonna be running routes,” James Palmer pointed out. Now, this announcement single-handedly tosses out any draft speculation surrounding Hunter. Why? The thing is, with Hunter changing his mind, both New England and Tennessee will have to rethink their draft plans.

We won’t lie. We tried to uncover Mike Vrabel‘s secret plan to protect the Patriots from slipping into purgatory: An amazing prospect with Maye and a $130 million cap well spent to secure Stefon Diggs, Milton Williams, and Harold Landry. What do you see from this? If you ask us, Vrabel and New English pretty have their CB room sorted.
The biggest question is the WR. Here, Hunter is a no-brainer. With his route running and football IQ, he makes perfect sense. Even Patriots WR coach Todd Downing was singing Hunter’s praise. “You see his football IQ and understanding of where he fits in zone concepts. He does a great job of finding a way to get open,” Downing had pointed out.
So, in simple terms, Vrabel and Downing would love to have Hunter on the No.4 Overall. All that being said, the Patriots will be present for the Pro Day and will keep a close eye on the 2-way Heisman champ. “The Patriots—holding the fourth pick—have VP of player personnel Ryan Cowden at Colorado Pro Day to see CB/WR Travis Hunter work out,” Albert Breer shared on X.
But what about the Titans? Well, here is where things get tricky. When we talk about Tennessee, the biggest question that arises is, “Do we draft the generational QB, or do we opt for a 2-way great?” You know what they say, right? Heavy is the head that wears the crown.

Travis Hunter: A game-changer for Patriots or Titans, or just another overhyped prospect?

Titans gamble
SleeperTitans shared an interesting update on X which kind of made us question everything. GM Mike Borgonzi, OC Nick Holz, WR coach Tyke Tolbert, and DC Dennard Wilson are all going to be at Colorado’s Pro Day. However, it is what SleeperTitans added next that makes us scratch our heads: “Doesn’t feel like they’re there for QB Shadeur Sanders, more so WR/CB Travis Hunter.”
Now, this puts a whole new spin on the Titans’ No.1 pick narrative. You have access to 2 different franchise quarterbacks – something that you desperately need. However, at the same time, you could just get a CB/WR package. What would be the better deal?
Betting on Ward or Shedeur will result in instant success – Betting on Hunter comes with the additional style points, but a different dilemma arises on where you’d play the guy. Hunter has made it evident that he wants the 2-way badge. No McChicken, he wants to be the Happy Meal. At Colorado, it was no sweat, but the league? “There’s absolutely no way he can do them both full-time,” an NFL exec had pointed out.

That being said, something makes us feel that this Pro Day is going to flip the stocks. Is Shedeur going to be overlooked? Or will Hunter be typecast in a single role?
