Is Deion Sanders risking Travis Hunter's future for short-term wins? What's your take on this?

Everyone is wondering if Travis Hunter will be back on the field this Saturday. After sustaining a right shoulder injury in the last Kansas State game, his availability for the upcoming game against Arizona is shrouded in mystery. But on October 15, Deion Sanders gave a positive update on Travis Hunter’s availability status for the next game. During his weekly press conference in Boulder, he said, “Travis should play for certain on Saturday.” But let’s hear about his current status from Hunter himself.

In a new YouTube episode on The Travis Hunter Show on October 17, the Buffs two-way star made a statement on his injury update. When asked how he’s holding up after the injury, his response was cryptic. He said, “Nah man, we ain’t gonna speak on that until they see me this Saturday bro. They’ll figure it out. They’ll see what’s going on.”

Still, Travis Hunter assured rubbing his injured shoulder, “You know, it really ain’t too much man. We should have won that game. But we focus on the next week now that the game’s behind us.” We hope Hunter is truly ready to face another game this weekend without his injured shoulder giving him a hard time.

Deion Sanders is already in a pool of criticism following his valuable player’s injury. His decision to play Travis Hunter in about 90% of the total snaps on offense and defense garnered criticism as headlines about him destroying the elite talent began to surface. But the media can be quite twisted, opinions can be null, and allegations could be wrong. Still, Travis Hunter’s injury poses a threat to the possibility of his prosperous future in his last college football season.

Travis Hunter suffers the Heisman blow with injury

Travis Hunter entered the last Kansas State game as the second-favorite to win the Heisman Trophy behind Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty. This season, he appeared in an astounding 620 out of about 689 snaps, the reason why he’s more susceptible to injury than other players. After his fall in the second quarter and missing the second half of the game, his Heisman odds dipped considerably but he still remains on the list of some expert analysts with the upcoming game as a major determiner for his Heisman race.

The injury of Travis Hunter and the other key WRs is a sharp blow to Colorado’s game scheme because they thrive mainly through the air. But as Hunter’s mother Ferrante Harris said of the misfortune, “Turn that pain into purpose! You got this! Go start the business! Go be great!” Deion Sanders may have made the mistake of overworking his star player to push the Buffs for wins. But despite all the negative narratives swirling around, it’s on us to look at the situation from a different light. Sometimes, things don’t go according to plan and this whole incident is an indicator of a plan gone wrong.
