Colorado Buffaloes‘ dual-threat Travis Hunter has always been a transparent soul. He hardly holds back any emotions. So much so that he lets his emotions flow freely even in front of the Buffs HC Deion Sanders. That’s what you call bonding, right? But what’s the use if Coach Prime still doesn’t give him the treatment Hunter has been craving for a long time? Looks like the two-way star has run out of patience when it comes to Deion’s priority list. But he should remember the last time when getting obsessed with his coach made him the hate magnet of the CFB fans.
By now, you might have guessed Deion’s pulse. The Buffs HC’s life revolves around the sport and his five kids. But since there lies a common ground between his sons who are integrally attached to the Buffaloes program, his social media posts are mostly about Papa Prime and Coach Prime personas, tucked into one, hyping up his sons. And this October 27 came with a Sunday evening pep talk. The Buffs HC posted a thread that had pictures of his three sons—Deion Jr., Shilo, and Shedeur—perfectly capturing precious father-son moments. The caption read, “Don’t ever tell me what GOD can’t do ! GOD can do all things and GOD can’t lie so if GOD says it then it is SO! #CoachPrime @deionsandersjr @shilosanders @shedeursanders @cubuffsfootball.” We can get where Deion came from with the caption.

Maybe he got too carried away after the Buffs’ big 34-23 win against the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday evening. While all seemed to look good for the post if you would take a look at the comment section, a particular comment might nudge you. That’s from Hunter, who dropped in with a “😡” emoji. But why so?

Shedeur looked dapper on Sunday evening, grabbing all the spotlight from Bearcats QB Brendan Sorsby. The Buffs QB completed his first 15 passes and had a rushing touchdown before halftime. So that’s why he made his way to Deion’s post. Even Shilo, who ended up whiffing on a tackle when Cincinnati RB Corey Kiner hurdled over him on the 23-yard run, found himself mentioned in Coach Prime’s special post without even performing well. Maybe that somehow left Hunter upset. After all, he made the first hit on the play for the evening and had 113 receiving yards in the first half alone with two touchdowns. Yet not a single mention. Come on, even you would have felt bad, right? And guess what? It has been a common scenario.
Travis Hunter called out for not maintaining boundaries
Back on October 9, Coach Prime thought of taking the father-son bond a step ahead. And who or what made him do so? Has to be his inspiration, LeBron “King” James. On October 6, the NBA legend and his son Bronny played against the Phoenix Suns, and with this, they became the first father-son duo to play in the NBA. That came as the much-needed pump to an already enthusiastic Deion. He got too excited thinking about his and Shedeur’s pair-up and posted, “I’m COMING Back to play with my sons to! This is HISTORICAL! Give this man his FLOWERS NOW! This speaks to Fatherhood, Excellence & Longevity. @KingJames @BronnyJamesJr.” And BOOM!

What’s your perspective on:
Is Coach Prime's focus on his sons overshadowing other deserving players like Travis Hunter?
Have an interesting take?
Hunter seemed to be really angry at his Coach. The dual-threat quickly dropped into Deion’s chat, complaining, “Ok now why I’m not in this picture 🤔.” This was enough to melt Coach Prime’s heart since Hunter too is close to him and the Buffs HC replied with a GIF, “I can fix that.” While the dual-threat got his assurance, the other part looked concerning.
Travis Hunter then became the easy target of the CFB fans for not being able to draw the boundary. Among the commenters, one fan got way too brutal and dropped in with, “Don’t he got his own dad?” But they need to understand it’s not about Hunter’s audacity but somewhere Deion has given him the space to blurt out whatever his heart says.
