The Colorado Buffaloes fans might be at the edge of their seats. After all, the 2025 NFL Draft is drawing near. And they do not have one, but Three Buffs players, who will step into the NFL. Already theories are coming up that Jerry Jones and Dallas Cowboys are trying to land the Sanders siblings duo Shedeur and Shilo to woo Deion Sanders. Now what about the other Buffs, Travis Hunter?
The Colorado dual-threat till now had high aspirations about stepping into the NFL. But sadly, not anymore, it seems like. Now who changed his mindset at the last minute? It has to be the Georgia Bulldogs transfer and the new Miami Hurricanes commit Carson Beck. After all, his $10 million jackpot is making Hunter question his decision.

Now the 2024 season has been a power-packed one for Hunter. The two-way star came off indomitable with 92 receptions, 1,152 yards, and 14 touchdowns. He even ended the last chapter of his college football career on a sweet note by bagging the Heisman Trophy. So, there is no doubt about how the NFL suitors would swarm around him. But what about Hunter’s preference?
Well, he was unsure about his final destination. But he knew the top teams would come calling. On the Air it Out podcast, Hunter confessed, “If you’re the first team on the board, I’m happy to be there. I can’t get drafted again. So I want to be the first pick on the board.”
But it looks like the NFL is no longer his top priority.
After all, the Buffs’ dual threat had been taken aback by Beck’s success. As reported by Front Office Sports, the QB has secured nearly $10 million in NIL deals combined over the last 12 months. So, now Hunter is running after to find the answer to ‘How.’
On The Travis Hunter Show, the Heisman winner sounded astonished, mentioning, “How do you get $10 million? Where’s my $10 million? How are people getting this much money, bro? Hold up, let me go test this out.” Like him, even Beck was about to get into the NFL. Yet, he chose to give himself another year in college football. Now that the quarterback is reaping some of the sweetest fruits, Hunter gets huge FOMO.
He is now in a dilemma about his transition. In the podcast, the two-way star confessed, “Let me go back. I’m going back to college. Let me see if I can get $100 million. Let me go see if I can win another Heisman, because $10 million, I ain’t make that in college… Let me go hit the portal.”
Well, even though he sounded serious, fans know it was a joke.

Yes, it’s true. If Hunter decided to enter the transfer portal and stay in college for another season, like Beck, he too would have created NIL history. But it’s high time people get practical. For that, running after money sounds like a bad idea for Hunter, who thus far has molded himself in a way to climb the ladder.
Bleacher Report’s NFL Scouting Department has slotted him at No. 3 to the New York Giants. If Hunter wants to achieve his dream of becoming the No.1 pick, he must make a sacrifice. And what’s that? He will have to play cornerback. Only then, there would be chances of being drafted as No.1. In that case, he would create history by becoming the first defensive back taken that high since 1956.
The last time it happened was when the Pittsburgh Steelers snapped up Colorado A&M star, Gary Glick. His ride to landing as the No.1 pick for the WR position won’t be smooth. After all, the last time a wide receiver landed as the top pick was Keyshawn Johnson, who went to the New York Jets in 1996.
