And he can talk the talk and walk the walk. Travis Hunter is pure magic. When the Buffs went up against the Rams in the Rocky Mountain Showdown, Hunter managed to create history. With his 2 touchdowns, 13 catches, and 1 interception, Hunter became the defensive player of the week. The most beautiful part of the game came when Hunter intercepted a pass from the Rams’ QB and managed to dodge the defenders and return the football 38 yards.
So, it ain’t no wonder why former 49ers WR Terrell Owens couldn’t stop himself from comparing Hunter with Prime Time Deion Sanders on the latest episode from The Travis Hunter Show. “Just a talent, uh, that he (Deion Sanders) was playing multiple sports. You don’t, you don’t, you don’t find many players like that. Um, and Travis is definitely one of those guys,” Owens mentioned. If you didn’t know, Deion was a 2-way star as well. But, in a different way. Coach Prime gambled with both NFL and MLB and he was good at both.
Hunter right now juggles between CB and WR and he has been nailing it. When the Buffs went against Baylor, during overtime, Hunter managed to secure a game-winning fumble and helped the Buffs win 38-31. On top of the Folsom stadium hung a single banner that defined what Hunter was and will be. “HE12MAN” the banner had on it. With what we saw him pulling against both the Rams and the Bears, Hunter was currently standing on +3500 odds on the Heisman ladder.

This places him on the 12th rank and we all know that this guy will climb to the top in no time. It’s kind of fun to see that Deion Sanders has now found his worthy successor. While Shedeur Sanders is still in the race, back on September 19th, we saw that Hunter had outpaced the QB and his coach. Sports Illustrated put out its 2024 Power List. While every eye was probably searching for Deion Sanders on it, it was Hunter who had secured the spot.

As the Buffs gear up to face off against the UCF Knights, Travis Hunter will be one of the key players who will lead the team. Shedeur’s also in amazing shape and the overall Buffs defense is looking good as well. However, UCF is one of the best run-game teams in CFB and there’s one guy, other than Hunter and Shedeur, who can turn the tides in Coach Prime’s favor.
The ‘Block Bully’ is back
Back on September 24th, UCF HC Gus Malzahn crowned Travis Hunter as the best player in CFB. “He’s the best player on the film in all four games & it’s not even close,” Malzahn had noted. However, you still gotta keep in mind that the UCF offense is levels better than the Buffs offense. This team is going to run as soon as they hit the turf.

And only one guy can stop them. Enter the ‘block bully’ Chidozie Nwankwo. After the Huskers game, Nwankwo sustained an injury that stopped him from appearing against the Rams and the Bears games. Now, with the latest injury report coming from the Buffs, Deion Sanders has noted that there is a high chance Nwankwo would be present when the boys hit the turf against the Knights.
This guy can change the face of the game and if he comes back, Coach Prime has a chance of standing up against the Knight’s run game. For now, we still gotta wait and watch what happens on the weekend.
