Michigan has been undergoing a roller coaster ride this season. As Sherrone Moore has put his philosophy to learn from his mistakes right on the spot and capped off his season on a high note with a massive ReliaQuest Bowl win over Alabama, the Wolves are already signing up for a new season. The transfer portal is blazing with the new faces led by the man of the hour, Bryce Underwood. Moore broke his back and rebuilt it stronger in the overwhelming back and forth of taking Underwood in from LSU. But Karma hit hard when he lost two of his impact QBs, Jayden Denegal and Alex Orji, to the portal.

Alex Orji, who graced the starting gig after Davis Warren failed to get the job done during a game against Alabama, continued to play for the team till the bowl, but an insider found an ideal home for him to lock in.

After mounting a mediocre season (8-4), including a 6-3 record in the Big 12 play, TCU Horned Frogs are shifting their focus to the portal like every other team does. But the QB they have their eyes on is indeed special in terms of game plays, athletic excellence, decision-making, and so on. Orji, 21, is juggling between the programs right now. But a school that perfectly fits the skillet seems to be TCU. Insider Stephen Simcox breaks down his unorthodox instinct to push Orji to TSU.

“I saw my friend Jeffrey Craig tweet about this. My friend Jeffrey Craig, program director at KTCCU, mentioned when Alex Orji hit the transfer portal. Alex is a quarterback at Michigan. He’s from the DFW area, originally he is from Sachse, Texas. He played his high school ball in a couple of different places. He played at Rock Wall, he played at Sachse, he played Dallas Bishop, but he’s been committed to Michigan and has been a player there for a few years. This past season, he started three games, he hit the transfer portal he’s looking for a new home,” said Simcox.

Did Alex Orji's cryptic message to Bryce Underwood reveal hidden tensions in Michigan's QB room?

Have an interesting take?

Alex Orji has not had a nearly perfect tenure at Ann Arbor. He got enough accolades, including two Big Ten titles and a national championship, to brag in these three years, but he had his limitations, too. Orji didn’t turn out to be a very fruitful alternative to Warren and could not get the team out of its persistent QB woes. His stats are also flat. But, he remains the head-turner.

150 passing yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. These are not phenomenal, but, Orji’s biggest asset is his legs. ”He ran the ball 57 times this year for 269 yards, about five yards a carry. In 2023, he ran the ball 15 times for 86 yards, 5.7 yards per carry, so he’s shown some promise running the football. He’s a big physical quarterback, 6’3, and 235 pounds, but he’s not really a burner. He has athleticism. you see it on display when you watch him play.” TSU insider put his thoughts out. But did Orji dish a hint on this? No. Wait, did he really move on from the Michigan Wolves fully yet? No.

Alex Orji had a weird yet intriguing response to Bryce Underwood’s Michigan message.

Bryce Underwood receives a cryptic taunt from Alex Orji

Alex Orji flipped his commitment from Virginia Tech and had a couple of good seasons in Michigan. In the trail of a QB-scarce season, Orji decided to move on from Ann Arbor and take his talent to a new place. But what is the tea here? Did he just hit the portal out of nothing? Well, if you study his recent activity on the Underwood’s social handles, you might get your answer.

Bryce Underwood, the celebrated five-star recruit, has already started honing his craft for the Wolves. He is holding talks during practice sessions. His ability to learn and his willingness to adapt amazed Davis Warren. But on the contrary point, he possesses a lot of hype. The phenomenal star energy already promised a lot on the plate, but to the other QBs, it was sure to come off as an insecurity trigger. It could be the same for Alex Orji. Not everyone is Davis Warren, after all, who reassured his commitment to the Wolverines regardless of the locker room dominance.

As Underwood posted an Instagram reel to celebrate his rolling with Michigan, Orji commented, ‘‘god got you,”. It might simply be a blessing sent toward the kid or another jibe hidden in the hallow. You are free to interpret.
