Can you guess how many 5-star quarterback recruits there are in the 2026 class of FBS 1? Well, if you had guessed 5,7, or even 10 for a stretch, that doesn’t even come close. There are just 2 five-star prospects in the 2026 quarterback class, those being Jared Curtis, who has since decommitted from Georgia and has kept his options open. Dia Bell is the other QB who has a completely different and opposite story.

Going forward, the 2026 quarterback class is just a demand and supply game. Scarcity creates value, and value creates demand. Dia Bell it seems, is completely immune to these concepts. The player has locked in on his potential destination and isn’t budging down an inch to decommit from the program that is the Texas Longhorns. He committed to the program back on June 17th last year, and if a recent revelation is to be believed, the prospect is writing just another definition of ‘loyalty. ‘

Jason Suchomel, a prominent Longhorns insider, wrote on X about the player’s final destination and his upcoming visit. “#Hookem QB commitment Dia Bell remains locked in with the #Longhorns despite continued interest from other programs. Bell will be in Austin next weekend, again in April, and then on an official visit on June 20.”

So, it seems now that programs like Brian Kelly’s LSU, Ryan Day’s Ohio State, and Billy Napier’s Florida seemed to lose all their hopes to land the QB.  Ohio State, in particular, was leading in probability rankings of On3 at 19.4% which was even more than Texas itself, which had just a 9.2% chance of keeping the player. Other programs, like LSU, had an 11% chance, while Billy Napier was ranked fourth with a 6.2% probability. This recent revelation seems to have put an end to these probabilities and has sealed the deal for Texas.

Dia Bell also plays basketball and is a dual sport phenomenon. He comes from an illustrious family as he is the son of former NBA superstar Raja Bell. The same legend who had his name in the NBA all-defensive team twice. Dia Bell hails from Florida’s Fort Lauderdale and is a player at American Heritage School. Standing at 6 foot 3 and 190 lbs, he had a breakthrough career in his sophomore year when he threw for almost 2,000 yards, assisting with 20 touchdowns. The season started his love for football, which has continued ever since.

Dia Bell opens up on Steve Sarkisian and Texas

The commitment of Dia Bell essentially speaks volumes about how Steve Sarkisian has built his classes over the years. In the 2025 class, which is ranked 1st, we didn’t see much of an attrition rate. And now he is following it up by building a perfect 2026 class too, which is ranked 10th for now nationally with just 3 prospects. Dia Bell also praised Steve Sarkisian in more than one way (per ON3).

What’s your perspective on:

Dia Bell's loyalty to Texas—admirable or naive in today's cutthroat college football landscape?

Have an interesting take?

As of right now, I don’t have any plans to visit anyone else besides the University of Texas. That’s always exciting for me knowing that we have stability in our coaching staff and all the offensive coaches are the exact same,” Bell said. “Offense and the culture and the people around there. It all fit me, felt like a home away from home and that’s obviously what you want in a school that you want to go to“.

With Bell locked on Texas, it gives incentive and room to Steve Sarkisian to ultimately build his roster further without any worries. He currently has 2 other recruits who are rated 4 stars in his 2026 class. Those being Chris Stewart (WR) and Max Wright (OT). Steve Sarkisian will also have the long-touted Manning prodigy (Arch Manning) on his hands in the upcoming season. In that sense, the 2025 season, in terms of QB room, feels sorted. Also, with incoming prospects like Kaliq Lockett and Jamie Ffrench (WRs), the QBs will have enough firepower to perform and make those lethal plays on defense.
