At last! The Colorado Buffaloes fans can finally let out a sigh of relief. Deion Sanders and Co. had been thrown under the bus when Buffs QB Shedeur Sanders failed to protect the program’s honor from getting crushed by Dylan Raiola and his army. But not anymore! On September 14, Shedeur rescued fans from their celebration shortage, leaving their in-state rivals Colorado State Rams into mere specks of dust. But what made the QB to flip the script? Deion revealed that the defeat ignited the fire within his son who “took it personal” making the most of his connection with OC Pat Shurmur. Does it have to do anything with Deion’s “uncared” jab?
While the Buffs enjoyed the September 14 face-off, the nightmare from the last game definitely has crossed their mind. However, the finale came with a sweet surprise. Colorado Buffs secured an impressive 9-28 win against the Colorado State Rams. But what worked in the Buffs’ favor on Saturday? As Coach Prime pointed out, “He[Shedeur] and Pat has a tremendous relationship and the relationship with his receivers with his offensive lineman…they were so upset by allowing him to be touched last week…so they took it personal.”

No wonder they took it personally. After all, the revamped Buffs O-line had only one job to do, protect Shedeur, but in that too, they failed miserably. And how could the Huskers just let go of that opportunity? Raiola and the army planted their victory flag by giving Shedeur not one, not two but FIVE SACKS in one game. This was enough to displease the Buffs HC, who are often stripped off for wearing blind glasses to Shedeur’s fault.

But this time, Deion too criticized the Buffs QB for his faulty moves. During the post-game conference, the Buffs HC confessed, “We came out and Shedeur did something very uncared of himself. Never makes a bad decision especially in that part of the field in which they got a pick six.” It seems that Deion had the premonition of Shedeur and crew would make things better since he had asked his players to keep the celebrations low-key before the Rams face-off.
Deion Sanders’ peace talk sessions before the big face-off
Deion being Deion, must always stand out of the crowd. Going by the trend, oftentimes the programs fail to draw that boundary and get too carried away with the post-game celebrations. The most recent example is the Nebraska Cornhuskers. While Matt Rhule’s crew took their 2023 revenge by defeating the Buffs 28-10, they pulled out a salty card during their locker-room celebration. For their celebratory rap, they went with Shedeur’s “Perfect Timing” rap and spiced up the Buffs QB’s woes by imitating his signature watch-flex moves.

The Colorado State Rams also were walking on the same path. Thank god Shedeur and his teammates took matters into their own hands, dousing the fire of rivalry. But before the Buffs, Deion had already raised a warning for his players to devote themselves to the path of peace when Rams’ QB Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi came up with a “We’ll see how far Instagram followers gets them” threat.
Soon the WR Tory Horton too followed in with a “We owe them one” warning. But what message did Coach Prime have for Shedeur Sanders and the troop? Deion Sanders made it very clear, “We don’t do what they do. We going to be better than that.” Thanks to the Buffs, their scoreboard was the ultimate mic drop!
