The Longhorns’ defense is ranked No. 2 among the CFB teams. Do any names come to your mind? Well, Anthony Hill Jr. should come to every Buckeyes fan’s mind while talking about their defense. He was like a blank sheet when he joined the Buckeyes last season. Although he thrived as a football player, he didn’t know how to mold his linebacking skills. Look at him now. Steve Sarkisian has called him a “green dot” player. Boy, oh boy, he has come a long way!
Tim Tebow, the former Florida quarterback and Heisman Trophy champ, is in town, joining the game-day crew in Austin. While welcoming Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian on board, Tebow didn’t mince his words in declaring his love for one of Sarkisian’s boys, Anthony Hill Jr. “This freak of the week, I am so excited about him because he dominates at everything. He leads the team in total tackles. He leads the team in assisted tackles. Second in sacks. First and foremost, his name is Anthony Hill. He’s front-squatting 405 like it’s lightweight. Squats 605. benches 405. Does whatever he wants in the weight room.”

So much hype coming from a legend himself! Anthony Hill must be on cloud nine right now! Bet if you’re a Longhorn fan, you’d know this guy has earned it all. Tim Tebow wasn’t exaggerating when he called him a freak of the week! With 14 games played and for the six starts, he has left big names behind.
Hill managed 68 tackles, among which 40 he tackled solo. He recorded 8.0 tackles for loss and five sacks, flexing his upper hand against his opponent’s offense. On top of that, Hill also forced a fumble and had four quarterback hurries with two pass breakups. While praising the linebacker, Sarkisian also added a bunch of hype to his boy.
“Who he is in the weight room is who he is on the football field. His versatility for us, his ability to play off the ba*l ‘backer, blitz off the edge, blitz internally, play in pass coverage, and then he’s violent on contact. Which you’ve got to love. He’s a violent player.” While Tebow highlighted Hill’s off-the-field records, Sarkisian quickly jumped into his head coach mode and solidified the fact that Hill is equally capable on the field as he’s off the field.

Is Anthony Hill Jr. the key to Texas Longhorns' playoff dreams, or just another hype train?
Have an interesting take?
Hill, who started his athletic career at Billy Ryan High School in Denton, put on a great show to be Steve Sarkisian’s favorite. Those who keep a close eye on the sport must be aware of Hill’s journey. Moving forward, what do you think about Texas’s playoff picture? Although they are sitting on No. 2 right now, what if we tell you something that can shake their playoff hopes?
What’s the bottom line for Steve Sarkisian and the squad for the playoffs?
The Longhorns are walking a tightrope, moving towards the final stretch of the season; to be honest, it gives “will they? Won’t they” vibes! sitting at 9-1, the Longhorns are rocking the No. 2 spot in the rankings but to be real, fans have started giving a side eye to their playoff dreams. sure, they were great for days, but their best W is a nail-biter against Vanderbilt, and that L to the Bulldogs in a home game? Yeah, that doesn’t look good.

Now add a possible Texas A&M loss to the list, and things will be messier than ever for the Longhorns. The real drama begins if Texas fumbles against A&M. However, that game is yet to come. For now, Sarkisian’s team must focus on Kentucky. The Wildcats, despite their 4-6 record, have already taken down No. 9 Ole Miss Rebels. So, it’s not going to be an easy ride for the Longhorns. Of course, one eye may be on Week 14, but it’s better to take one game at a time.
