Home/College Football

For those who never give up, it is said that dreams do come true. They seem to be entirely correct. And hope Preston Carey, a 300-pound DL, feels the same way at the moment. The defensive lineman had 41 offers to play collegiate football, which is unbelievable. Nevertheless, the exceptional athlete was awaiting an offer from his Dream Powerhouse institution. It appears that God heard his prayers and granted him happiness so that his aspirations could come true.

Preston Carey, a 4-star prospect from Bradenton’s IMG Academy, is the defensive lineman to whom Alabama made an offer. The New York native on Friday wrote, “I am very blessed and honored to receive my 42nd D1 Full Scholarship [O]ffer from The University of Alabama!!!” on his X account to show his excitement. It is his dream school! And why not? See the crowd, the stadium, the academic features, and the coaching staff of the school. Then, with a sigh of relief, Carey said, “Alabama was an offer I was waiting for. I had been talking to them, recruited by them for a while…

According to the X post, Preston Carey called defensive line coach Freddie Roach, who broke the news to him. It was a great conv. However, Tony Jones and Eron Hodges were among the other employees with whom Carey had previously communicated. In the days ahead, he is also anticipated to meet with DC Kane Wommack and HC Kalen DeBoer.

Coach Roach said he loved the way I played and definitely saw me as a great defensive lineman. He said he would love to have me in. his DL (defensive line) room. It was a great conversation,” remarked Carey following the offer from UA. Moreover, he stated, “They have been recruiting me heavily and building a relationship with me for a long time now, so this offer is great. The Alabama staff loved my film. They have been building a relationship with me, so the offer was just to let me know they’re official about me now.”

To date, Carey has not disclosed his leading options. In the fall, he made a few school visits. He traveled to Indiana and Florida. He recently stated that the teams that are actively recruiting him are Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Tennessee, and Texas. Currently, it is unclear if he has ever visited Alabama in person. Or will he come now?

This 300-lb athlete has not yet arrived in Alabama. According to him, a visit will take place “as soon as possible.” With official visits in the next months and a choice by the end of June, Carey plans to narrow down the list of preferences from the 42 offers he has received. It can be expected, though, that Carey chose Alabama for another reason besides the fact that it was his ideal university.

As of the current scenario, this past fall, Carey had the added advantage of practicing every day against one of Alabama’s top signees. Following the arrival of the 5-star offensive guard at the National Football Factory in July, he went against Michael Carroll, who also had a lot of positive things to say about his new home.

He’s one of my close friends, and I’ve heard nothing but great things. He and I got after it everyday in practice; love the aggression in football. He was good. It was always a great matchup with me winning reps, and it going both ways every play,” Carey said, referring to Carroll.

Adding that, Carey mentioned, “We were friends off the field, but got after it between the lines. I play with aggression and so does he. Mike is my dawg, great kid to hangout with and knows how to get after it in the trenches. I also had a class with him this past semester before he just got to Bama this month. Always great to be around him. We always helped each other get better.” It merely shows that Carey’s sigh of relief is influenced by having the opportunity to play with his close friends. Let’s now see the 4-star defensive end’s performance with Alabama in 2025.
