And Michigan has done it. The curse might be finally over cause when we saw the Wolverines’ defense and offense pull, Moore has probably found the perfect rhythm. With a 27-24 win over the Trojans, the Wolverines have won their 4th 2024 season game.
The AR State victory before this was a major red flag for the team. Moore and his boys had a hard time catching up and fans bashed Sherrone Moore left and right. However, the HC finally decided to bring out the best from his roster, with Alex Orji taking over Davis Warren’s role as starting QB.
So, it ain’t no wonder why Moore was all emotional while talking about the win. “I love them. I love them. Love them like they’re my kids,” Sherrone Moore mentioned during an interview with CBS Sports. Is the Jim Harbaugh era coming back? Well, it’s too early to say but what we can note with confidence is the fact that Moore, probably, has managed to win back the Michigan fans with this victory.

The first 2 quarters of the game were purely in Michigan’s favor. Kalel Mullings landed the first 53-yard touchdown run and then in the second quarter, Donovan Edwards landed another touchdown. The 3rd quarter of the game is where things got a bit hard for Moore and his boys. Lincoln Riley and the Trojans had finally picked up pace and the defensive was quick to hone in towards Alex Orji to block him out.
Still, it would be a lie to say the Wolverines won this fair and square. Multiple penalty calls were missed by the refs, giving Moore and his boys enough leeway to pull ahead. Alongside that, things were quite rough for the Trojans. Riley lost 2 players on the field who had to be benched because of injuries. The first one was WR Makai Lemon taking a hit after a punt.
Lemon was taken away in an ambulance and we are still awaiting further updates on his condition. The second one to go out was Tight-End Lake McRee. McRee’s return to the game was after a recovery from an ACL injury. Now, during a direct hit by Jyaire Hill, McRee sustained an injury on his left knee and was seen in tears sitting on the sidelines. As the Trojans recover from this, what we learned today was Riley ain’t messing around this season.
Wolverines vs USC game proved that Lincoln Riley has what it takes to make it big
USC Trojans nearly upset powerhouse Michigan, losing by a slim 3-point margin. The win was almost in Riley’s hand but the Wolverines took it away with a last-minute touchdown. What the game showed us was the defense Riley has formulated this year has been amazing. They managed to lock in Orji with ease and made it hard for Michigan to play the passing game.
The Wolverines only had 32 passing yards by the end and the Trojans were standing on 283. This should be enough evidence that the team is in a solid spot this time. With Miller Moss bringing in 3 touchdowns and 1 interception, the Trojans fought till the end despite losing 2 key players because of injuries.

Paul Finebaum had said way back that this team ain’t “getting better” anytime soon. Riley has proved him wrong. The Trojans have what it takes and maybe down the line, we will see more explosive plays from them.
But, as we wait for that, why not watch the latest interview with Doug Sanders on EssentiallySports Think Tank?
