“#Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes is in good spirits only a couple of weeks after losing the Super Bowl.” To think that NFL’s starboy would get bashed this hard on the internet? Well, times sure have changed. When KC was kicked off by the Eagles, we knew that it would instantly kick-start a whole new trolling competition around Patrick Mahomes. After all, 3-peat ain’t happening anytime soon. Still, from what we saw, it felt like Mahomes and the entire Chiefs army were more focused on the “3-peat narrative” than actually playing football. Anywho – anyhow, legacies are meant to be broken, and it was just KC’s turn on the chopping block. However, despite many fans having a meltdown around the Super Bowl loss, Mahomes’s Alma Mater has decided to focus on better things.
Front Office Sports took to IG to share: “Texas Tech has opened its new $242 MILLION football facility in Lubbock.” What was more interesting than the $242 million price tag was the “Patrick Mahomes Walk-Through Room” plastered on the wall. A solid nod for an amazing player, and we have no problem in supporting this bandwagon. Now, let’s talk about the facility itself – Womble Football Center has some unique features that we personally haven’t seen any other program focus on.

This is, literally, the largest investment the Texas Tech athletics department has ever made, and it is pretty natural why. Chasing the Mahomes success formula, Joey McGuire has pretty much switched his recruitment techniques.
“‘They basically leave much of the scouting to their sources in the NFL,” Dan Wetzel points out. Now, to train such high-grade talent recruited by the NFL guys, you need a top-of-the-line arena – enter Womble. But what’s left to see is fans realizing that Mahomes has a life outside of the NFL…

What’s your perspective on:
Does Mahomes deserve the online backlash, or should fans cut him some slack after the loss?
Have an interesting take?
Trolling the quarterback?
Make it make sense: “He got over that sh*t the next day.” This was one of the first comments we noticed on X when MLFootball shared Mahomes’ hearing for Texas Tech’s basketball game. Sometimes, it genuinely feels like people forget that there is a life outside the Super Bowl.
Now we understand the emotion: Losing that hard to the Eagles is a bad look, but let the man have some fun? Athletes move on, and a loss to Philly ain’t a war crime. We are sure that once Mahomes gets his mojo back, the Chiefs will be on another run for the Bowl win.
