Is Quinn Ewers the right choice for Texas, or should Arch Manning take the reins?

The golden child of college football has been dethroned. Running on 6 back-to-back wins, it felt like nothing could stop Steve Sarkisian and the Texan domination. They were on top of every chart out there, but not anymore. Kirby Smart and Co. came into this game with such passion that people were left wondering what the outcome would be if this had happened during the Bama showdown as well. Steve Sarkisian took home his first loss of the season as Smart and Co. ran up the scoreboard and ended with 30-15. After this beatdown, it ain’t no doubt that the Longhorns would want revenge.

And maybe they will get a shot at that. Well, at least that’s what Kirk Herbstreit feels. Back on X, Herbstreit mentioned, Congrats to @GeorgiaFootball on a great win-have a feeling those teams will meet again at some point!” See, with this win under their belt, the Dawgs have pretty much secured an easy entry into the playoffs. Who’s gonna stop them? The Gators? Oklahoma?

With what Kirby Smart has managed to get done with the defense, no run game in the country is breaking through that. Check the Longhorns. They had some of the best offensive lineups, but what did that get them? 29 rushing yards and zero points on the board in the first and second quarters.

And it just ain’t that. We have Carson Beck leading the charge here, folks. If Quinn Ewers is the big boss of QBs, then Beck is the ‘One Above All’. See, we had pointed it out before. Going into this game, Ewers had to pull different tricks because Beck ain’t someone who you should take lightly. This dude managed to pull up 400+ yards against the Crimson Tide and Kalen DeBoer and Co’s domination.

But here we are. All of this does raise a question: Was going with Ewers the best choice for this showdown? We understand that Sarkisian didn’t want to risk anything, but what was the outcome? Ewers got quickly benched and Arch Manning had to be put on the turf to gain some momentum for the Longhorns. Going forward, are the playoffs still in the books for the Longhorns?

Have an interesting take?

A chance at redemption for Steve Sarkisian

If we check the remaining games on the Texan schedule, the next big challenge for Sarkisian is pretty much unviable. The team would be going up against Vandy, followed by the Gators. Yeah, you might argue that after the Bama win, Vandy has earned themselves quite the reputation. However, you also gotta keep in mind that Kalen DeBoer and Co. failed that game because of their hubris.

And the Gators? Yeah, Billy Napier and his squad ain’t even making the Bowl games. The Wildcats win was a good showdown, but they are going against the Longhorns and the Bulldogs. Ain’t no way Napier is pulling W for those 2 games.

Finally, if we talk about the playoffs itself. There is a high chance that the Texan can face the Dawgs once again. Dean Legge did note that Georgia has a high chance of making the playoffs. So we could see a revenge match unfold. Till then, we just gotta wait it out.
