Kalen DeBoer and Alabama were riding high after their dominant 34-0 victory over Missouri. It seemed like the tide was turning for the Crimson Tide. But just when things were looking up, a surprising flip commitment has put a damper on their momentum. The question now is: Did their 6 wins, including the dominant victory last game, not cut it? Or did the earlier couple of losses leave a lasting impact on the program, making it harder to attract top talent?
Today, recruiting insider Hayes Fawcett took to Instagram to share shocking news regarding a recent flit recruit of Alabama, saying, “BREAKING: Elite 2026 EDGE Jordan Carter has committed to Texas A&M; he tells me for @on3recruits. The 6’4 250 EDGE from Douglasville, GA, chose the Aggies over Alabama & Auburn in “Chapter 22: GigEm.” After Texas win against the LSU Tigers this week, Jordan Carter flipped his commitment from DeBoer to Texas’s Mike Elko.

It is quite surprising to choose any other program over Alabama, considering its impressive track record and numerous prestigious championship titles. However, Douglas County, EDGE player’s sudden change of mind is unexpected, especially since Bama was one of his top favorite schools. This raises concerns about whether Kalen DeBoer’s presence on the team has influenced his decision.
Currently, it is difficult to make any predictions. However, in contrast to Jorden Carter, there are other high school players who are placing their trust in Kalen DeBoer and his program.

Kalen DeBoer and team gaining recruits’ trust
The Alabama Crimson Tide has a long list of committed recruits! Recently, the team flipped four-star recruit Marshall Pritchett’s longtime commitment from North Carolina. The young tight end visited Tuscaloosa for their game in September, after which he decided to pledge to them. It might be shocking to know the reason behind his sudden switch as Pritchett said, “What’s bad about Alabama? There is nothing you can really say.” That kind of trust in Bama even after Nick Saban’s exit shows that Kalen DeBoer must be doing something right with the program.
Next up on the list is Cerritos College’s three-star edge-rusher Kevonte Henry, who took back his commitment from Mississippi State for Kalen DeBoer’s Bama. Henry visited to watch Alabama’s game against South Carolina; it’s the same game after which DeBoer and the team were trolled back and forth for a close win of 27-25. Well, the team is currently ranking No. 2 in the recruiting class of 2025, so for now, losing Jordan Carter is not a big threat to the team.
