Home/College Football

How far can you go for love? Well, looks like matters of the heart are now reigning college football. There have been examples like Garrett Nussmeier. The LSU Tigers quarterback decided to make a comeback to Brian Kelly’s program. Even though he will now have to be in an LDR with his sweetheart, Ella Springfield. Months later it’s the Texas A&M Aggies wide receiver Noah Thomas who finds himself in the same position as Nussmeier. He now will have to choose between his ladylove and his career.

It’s transfer season folks. As the ritual has been, it brings in a lot of heartbreaks. Right now, Mike Elko’s phenom, Thomas, is looking for greener pastures. He has taken the first step of entering the transfer portal. Standing tall at 6-foot-6 and weighing 200 pounds, the wide receiver is the ideal size to play on the outside. Well, the young chap carries some big stats. He has finished the 2024 season racking up 39 receptions for 534 yards. To top that, the Texas native Thomas came up with eight touchdowns. These numbers were enough for him to fall into the radar of top programs. As per the reports, Texas Longhorns, Miami Hurricanes, and Georgia Bulldogs have already started to show interest. This was then taken up on the On3 Recruits podcast.

As analyst Josh Newberg shared Thomas was in Georgia last weekend. The news was confirmed by the co-host, Steve Wiltfong who said, “I like the way it’s trending for Georgia. Georgia finally hit in the portal over the weekend on Sunday.” Already, Kirby Smart’s program landed some gems from the transfer portal. As the analyst mentioned, the Bulldogs have wooed USC Trojans wide receiver Zachariah Branch and his brother Zion Branch. But what about Thomas? “This looks like it’s coming down to Georgia or could he go back to Texas A&M,” assured Wiltfong. But why Elko’s squad again?

Well, if not anything, there is a factor for which Smart’s program needs to be worried about Texas A&M. It’s a matter of heart and love, folks! As Wiltfong shared, “Could he go back to Texas A&M where he’s familiar with the offense familiar, with the quarterback familiar, with the strength and conditioning has his girl over there in College Station.” Now it’s Thomas’ call to listen to his heart or look for chances to grow. Meanwhile, the desperation of other programs is boiling.

Georgia and Miami in the Noah Thomas race

What’s your perspective on:

Should Noah Thomas follow his heart or chase the big leagues? What's your take on love vs. career?

Now the cracks of Smart’s programs are open. And it is no longer a secret that the Bulldogs are in dire need of reliable targets. They have now taken care of the wide receiver’s position. However, they still have their eyes on Thomas, and Athens even hosted him. That’s because he comes off as a perfect fit.

He is a true X-receiver and is a former Top-50 player coming out of high school in League City, Texas. Playing for three seasons in Texas A&M, he is coming off his best season yet. The “X-position” in Smart’s program is a bit wobbly with their WR Colbie Young struggling with a legal court case. Besides him, the other two Dillon Bell and Nitro Tuggle do not possess true X-receiver body types. Like Smart, Miami HC Mario Cristobal too dived into the race to land Thomas.

Similar to the Bulldogs, the Miami wide receiver position is a mess. Sam Brown is entering the NFL Draft, another WR Isaiah Horton moved out to join Kalen DeBoer’s Alabama. The other two, Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo are out of eligibility. So you can feel the desperation, right? But neither Georgia nor Miami have what Texas A&M has. That’s Noah Thomas’ ladylove.
