Quinn Ewers pulled the rug in his collegiate career in a spectacular fashion. The prodigy had a far-from-perfect season. Be it an underwhelming Georgia game, a series of turnovers, or an injury-ridden game streak, Ewers didn’t have it all in place. On the top, during his hiatus, Arch Manning has shifted the mass attention to himself, triggering an unofficial X petition to bring him on at the starting gig. However, Sarkisian paid zero heed. But eventually, the plea got harder to ignore, and it became quite evident that Ewers’ time in Texas had come to an end. He had to choose between two alternatives: the NFL or another college football juggernaut. He chose the first.
Despite a lot of deafening outside voices, Ewers trusted his ability to take it to the pro. Whether or not it would suit him is another debate, but as per the latest intel, it seemed the decision would not be of any help to the concerned NFL team (wherever he will land).
NFL teams received an alarming Quinn Ewers detail

Quinn Ewers has been one of the most elite QBs in college football over the last couple of years. He dipped the feat into Texas with a high-sky expectation back in 2021. He had initially committed to Texas before a short detour to Ohio State. However, he returned home and never looked back. With his incredible performance and paramount talent, he was named the coveted 2023 Big 12 Championship MVP, and he graced the cover of EA Sports College Football 25. But one thing, just one thing, fouled up his image and stat. Yes, the terrific injury horrors should be the ultimate crook. The once top draft prospect was hauled down to perhaps the 4th or 5th-best and a possible Day 2 pick within a year. The alarming high ankle sprain and oblique hurt significantly contributed to his downfall.
So, is it an accident once in a while? Or is it a recurring flaw of the newly minted NFL would be? RJ Young had a warning to the NFL biggies considering taking the CFB superstar on board. ” He takes Quinn Ewers, who can’t play an entire season healthy, and a really decent to good wide receiving core, depending on how you want to look at this year vs last year,” the analyst threw shades at Steve Sarkisian for his excessive loyalty to his QB 1 while bringing one major issue in Ewers resume to the surface.
A lot of veterans have already mentioned in the past how they would like to see Quinn Ewers returning to college for one more year as they didn’t really deem it as special as the other A-listers like Cam Ward. But the injury context seems a real concern to give a thought to. Ewers has supreme arm strength and better mobility than people, but Rick Spielman once said, ”If you’re injury prone, you stay injury prone all the time.”
But surprisingly, even after all the dilemma and debate, Steve Sarkisian remained unrealistically optimistic about Quinn Ewers. Did it just leave his future QB situation in more jeopardy?
Arch Manning’s Texas future hangs in the balance
The Quinn Ewers-Arch Manning debate is a recurring reality in Texas. Since the time Manning took the field and showed the world what he was capable of, people aren’t sleeping on him. The athletic blueblood has already overshadowed Quinn Ewers as a backup. But Sarkisian purposely let him stand on the sideline. The question it begs: How long?

We all know, Arch Manning is a diehard Texas fan. He grew up watching the orange men play and win trophies. So, it was a dream come true moment for the kid when he signed up with the program and suited up as a Longhorn. So, it didn’t matter to him whether or not he is a starting QB. But again, it’s the same question: how long? How long will he be okay to play small? Especially with high-flying NIL offers surrounding him all the time. But guess what? it’s not only the NIL money that is making trouble for Sarkisian.
On January 18, NFL Rookie Watch shared a concerning detail in an IG post. The caption read, “Arch Manning’s time as the QB1 at Texas could reportedly be “cut-short” as multiple NFL scouts reportedly believe Manning has Top-5 pick potential in the 2026 NFL Draft.”
To enter the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from high school. So technically, Manning will have to wait till 2026 since he is a 2023 high school graduate. So, Sarkisian can sit back and chill until then. But all of his Arch Manning dilemmas can fire back after that.
