Man, Mel Kiper is throwing these “first-round pick” remarks around like it’s a Black Friday sale or something. See, no running back got the first-round pick back in 2022. But the 2023 season was a different scene. 2 RBs got on the list; Bijan Robinson got the No.8 pick and Jahmyr Gibbs got the No.12 pick. However, this year, someone is going to create history. Ashton Jeanty has been a game-changer for Boise State. This dude is the No.1 in the entire country in terms of rush yards and TDs: 2288 rushing yards, along with 28 rushing touchdowns. Now that the Broncos are sitting comfortably on the 10th spot in the CFP, there is pretty much nothing stopping Ashton Jeanty from being a first-round pick.

And that is exactly what Mel Kiper agrees with. Back on ESPN First Draft, Kiper made it very clear that is confident with Jeanty getting picked in the first round. “100%. Um, you know, he’s a first round,” Kiper mentioned. Okay, we do agree that Kiper tends to hand out these titles without a clear thought, but this time, his prediction makes sense. On his list, Jeanty is in the No.5 spot for the 2025 Top 10 NFL draft picks and as we pointed out before, he has been a monster for the Broncos offense. If you go back in time and compare this guy with legends like Reggie Bush or maybe Derrick Henry, you’d find that Jeanty has easily managed to outpace them all. Here’s another thing, Kiper also pointed out a team for Jeanty: “To me, yes, the Dallas Cowboys.”

Jerry Jones will be blessed if he manages to land Jeanty. We all know that Jones made a massive mistake when he decided to let Derrick Henry go. Imagine paying millions to a washed-up quarterback but not using that money to bring in good players to the team.

See, we don’t know if Kiper’s prediction is going to come true or not, but we do know one thing; If Boise State manages to win against UNLV for the Midwestern conference title, then they could see a rise in their playoff ranks and from there if they secure a ticket to the semi-finals, Jeanty will easily end up getting the first-round pick ticket.

And it doesn’t stop there. One of the biggest rivalries this season has been the war on QB dominance over the Heisman trophy. Now, who is on the lead to grab that award? Well, our friendly neighborhood 2-way star Travis Hunter. But boy, oh boy, this entire debate between Hunter and Jeanty has been a wild ride. With the Broncos in the playoff picture, Jeanty might end up edging past Hunter, folks.

What’s your perspective on:

Could Ashton Jeanty be the missing piece for the Cowboys, or is Kiper dreaming again?

“I feel like you can’t compete with that,” was something Jeanty had pointed out while talking about all the records he has managed to break this season. Is this cockiness? Kinda, but he has all the rights.

After CBS dropped the latest Jeanty stat bomb, it kind of makes you think that Hunter’s crown could be in jeopardy. But at the same time, this battle will not be easy. While Jeanty has been a phenomenal player, whatever Hunter is doing on that turf, it is on both sides of the football.

And not a lot of people can do that. NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah pointed out an interesting angle regarding the Jeanty vs. Hunter Heisman race. “If he had that same year at USC, Notre Dame or Miami[Hurricanes]. Then he woulda been in really really good position to win,” Jeremiah had mentioned. Now, this is just a theory, but yeah, that little change in conferences can make a lot of difference.

Regardless, if Boise Stats cracks it into the natty, then it could be a sure-shot win for Jeanty in the Heisman race.
