Can 17-year-old Ryan Williams ignite a new era of youthful energy in NASCAR?

“I am speed”. Who could’ve thought that a dialogue from Cars would be so valid for someone like Bama WR Ryan Williams? With the 2024 season, Kalen DeBoer has proved that he is fit enough to handle the mantle that former Tide HC Nick Saban had left behind. More importantly, DeBoer is not doing it alone. With the Bulldogs rivalry game, Ryan Williams proved that even though he is just 17, he is still up there with the best.

So, naturally, Talladega Superspeedway tapped into the newfound fame Williams’ has discovered and announces the NASCAR playoffs. On October 3rd, Talladega took to their official Instagram account to share a post with Williams on the cover. “Time is running out to get your tickets & experience epic #NASCARPlayoffs action at one of @nascar’s most iconic tracks,” Talladega mentioned in the caption of their post.

We feel like the entire “time is running out” part is a subtle nod to what Williams managed to pull in the 4th quarter of the Dawgs game. With barely enough time left and Kirby Smart and Georgia taking the lead during the final quarter, Williams put on his Michael Jackson pants and ended Smart’s dream of winning the rivalry game with a stunning touchdown.

However, we cannot miss out on this one important part. Williams and the Alabama Superspeedway (where the playoffs will happen) share one thing in common: both are unpredictable. With the full entry list out for Talladega, Ryan Blaney still stands as the crowd’s favorite. 3 wins during his last 10 starts, there’s a high chance Blaney can bring it home again this year.

Also, another thing is that this entire NASCAR thing points to another aspect we discussed a few hours back. What if Williams has managed to bag another NIL deal? We had talked about how Williams and his NIL adventure had taken a sudden turn. With Bama grabbing the 41-34 win over the Bulldogs, Williams has seen a major hike in his NIL valuation.

Ryan Williams gonna go home with pockets full of gold

What’s your perspective on:

Can 17-year-old Ryan Williams ignite a new era of youthful energy in NASCAR?

Have an interesting take?

On the episode of On3 Recruits, Pete Nakos talks about how Williams is currently swimming in a sea of gold; all his for the reaping. “His performance, particularly against Georgia, combined with social media buzz, has driven his valuation up,” Nakos pointed out during the episode.

Before the Georgia game, Ryan Williams’ NIL valuation was at $765,000. After Kalen DeBoer and his boys managed to nail the game, Williams’ valuation skyrocketed to a staggering $1.5 million. That ain’t all, folks. His social media has seen a 160,000 follower boost over the last few days.

As Nakos noted during the episode, these types of gains have a massive impact on an athlete’s future. All these monetary benefits will open new doors for Williams and allow him to grow his brand. While we still don’t have confirmed news if NASCAR is partnering up with Williams’, what we can say for certain is that Bama fans are surely proud of this guy.
