Home/College Football

Jaxson Dart is again turning the tide into the pre-NFL stage and quite rightfully so. Just a few days back, the situation was quite different. In the early senior bowl practice, Dart dropped back to pass eight times, finishing two of four attempts for 41 yards, including a two-point conversion. He rushed for a touchdown but ended up eating two sacks, one of which culminated in a fumble. But overall, his incredible athleticism and resilience turned a lot of heads. Amidst a few odds, could you still see him draw a higher stock in the NFL, maybe not necessarily a first-round pick, but close?

Jaxson Dart is finally receiving the flower he deserves as an elite college football quarterback. His 400-yard, four-touchdown performance in a standalone bowl game against a Top 15 defense for the 2025 NFL Draft community makes him a clear standout to drag the combine invite his way and that too, as part of a rare NFL biggie group. If you look back at history, you will realize how far Dart has come to get himself on the list of the bluebloods. Since 2010, a total of 9 QBs have received combine invites while at their under-22 age, playing 30+ games in college and holding a total QBR of at least 80 in their last season. He will join forces with legends like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jaxson, Jalen Hurts, and others.

The week-long event designed to test the athletic and mental tenacity of the high-flying player seems highly destined to give the Ole Miss QB a big clean chit, marking a significant rise in his already supreme NFL stock. The prize makes quite a sense as Dart is unique in his own right, Be it the accuracy, the ‘awe’ throws, rolling left and right, or the leg stretch, the high mental mobility, the ability to thrive under pressure, the tremendous work ethics, everything seems flawless with the 21-year-old kid.

Mel Kiper joined Field Yates for their ESPN First Draft podcast and made a lofty prediction that many analysts have thought several times but couldn’t really declare it on TV. Kiper was unhesitant to project him as a worthy first-round pick.

In a nutshell, inching closer to the draft day, Dart can emerge as the biggest shocker to the scouts, especially after they have considered him as one of the sleepers of this year’s draft. Jumping from relative obscurity to one of the prime prospects of a program like the Steelers. Jaxson Dart is a beauty in the eyes of the beholder.

Steelers seemingly moved to Jaxson Dart from Jalen Milroe real quick

The Pittsburgh Steelers are highly likely to draft quarterback Jaxson Dart with the 21st pick in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft amidst heavy chaos over their current starter situation. As Russell Wilson and Justin Fields face free agency, there have been doubts about whether the Steelers will land a quarterback through the draft, free agency, or both. But again, Dart’s lure of apt leadership may be too appealing to ignore for head coach Mike Tomlin as the team already seeks a quarterback out of the mix.

Is Jaxson Dart the next big thing for the Steelers, or just another overhyped prospect?

Days before, Dart rose to an elite rank in a crazy Senior Bowl performance, carrying a stupendous 4,279 passing yards, 29 touchdowns, and an eye-popping rushing ability. Steelers was stuck to Alabama’s Jalen Milroe. But the Alabama signal caller severely struggled during his practice in the senior bowl. His inconsistent accuracy, skipping balls, throwing INTs, and missing throws came off as a major turnoff to the QB-needy AFC league. Over the last four years, Milrow has completed 64.3% of his passes for 6,016 yards while adding 1,577 rushing yards and 78 total touchdowns.

Did Milroe burn the bridges? Well, possibly yes. The scouts have reported that the Steelers will no longer be that interested in drafting him right away. Just a fortnight back, Pittsburg-based reporters broke the news that some of the Steelers scouts love Jalen Milroe and deem him a first-round talent. That’s an elusive past, by the way. The present revolves around one name, Jaxson Dart.
