Can Cobee Bryant back up his talk, or will Travis Hunter prove he's the real deal?

You come for the king, you best not miss. Colorado Buffaloes (8-2) two-way phenom Travis Hunter is in many ways the head honcho of CFB. The Heisman favorite has had his fair share of run-ins with his peers too. So when Kansas Jayhawks’ (4-6) cornerback Cobee Bryant fired some shots, Hunter retaliated.

Colorado faces Kansas this weekend in what will be a watershed game in their quest for the playoffs. Hunter’s offensive snaps may well come directly against Bryant. Eager for the 1v1 battle, Bryant said, “I’m not going to lie. I’ve been waiting. I already marked this on my notes. I already know this is the game I’ve been wanting all season. Yeah, this going to be the game.”

Travis is not one to walk away from a challenge. While live streaming ahead of the game, he caught onto Cobee Bryant’s comments. Hunter said, “Let people talk, bro. If that makes him feel better…they know they’re gonna have to double team…stop talking crazy, bro!”. That subtle remark has gotta sting, as Travis hints at Cobee’s inability to deal with a receiver of his ilk by himself.

His claim for the Heisman trophy got more legs last weekend. quite literally! Hunter had his first rushing TD of the season in what Shedeur claims to be a broken play meant for him. Nevertheless, the guile Hunter displayed to beat multiple Utah defenders was awe-inspiring.

With regards to the passing game, running routes against Cobee Bryant will not be an easy task. The senior can hold his end of the bargain. Bryant is a 2x All-Big 12 first-team corner. Just like his namesake, Bryant is a lock-down defender. Travis and co. will have their work cut out for themselves against Cobee and the Jayhawks.

While Kansas’ 4-6 record reads poorly, the context may induce some concern into those of a Buffs’ persuasion. The Jayhawks have won 3 games in 4. This includes a 17-13 triumph over Big 12 leaders BYU in their last outing. The team is trending upwards. With the eyes on the nation peeled on the enamoured Buffaloes, Kansas can mount an upset.
