Is the Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning rivalry the new Jalen vs. Tua saga?

Another QB battle at play? Let’s rewind. Both Jalen Hurts and Tua Tagovailoa were Alabama products under Nick Saban. Hurts was the star quarterback at Alabama enjoying all the spotlight. But then Tagovailoa came along and made him fight for the coveted role. The dilemma was that both were too good, the starter dared not make any mistake because the one in waiting was just one sloppy play away from snatching the starting nod. That’s what’s happening with Steve Sarkisian’s Texas right now.

Former NFL RB and Alabama alum Damien Harris blurted out his take on Texas’ heartbreaking loss to Georgia. He has first-hand experience on when the Jalen-Tua dilemma happened. In his appearance on a new YouTube episode on Until Saturday on October 21, he compared Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning’s situation to the former Alabama QBs. He said, “I see the same similarities that I saw with Jalen and Tua. I see it kind of playing out with Quinn and Arch and you know, it’s just hard because it does throw a wrench in team chemistry.

Everyone’s got favorites but after last night’s game, Quinn Ewers might have to step down. Harris also voiced his concerns for Ewers’ future after the No. 1 team’s first fall of the season against the SEC powerhouse. He said, “I believe Sark will handle it well throughout the rest of the season. But I just worry about Quinn’s mental fortitude moving forward because now it’s apparent [that he won’t be starting].” Well, Ewers made mistakes in that important last game. So, is it time for Arch Manning to step up and save the Longhorns?

Steve Sarkisian faces first defeat after Georgia loss

Just when they thought they’d go undefeated in their first year under a new conference, Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns are given a stark reality blow by Kirby Smart and the SEC powerhouse in their 30-15 fall. Both teams are now 6-1 into the season. Texas could see its rank demoted from the No. 1 spot in the coming days. Saturday wasn’t Quinn Ewers’ night who had multiple turnover issues, threw an early interception in the first quarter, and fumbled the pigskin two times.

Falling 20-0, Steve Sarkisian gave play time to Arch Manning who also failed to deliver any miraculous comeback and left after completing three of six throws for 19 yards. Ewers returned in the second half to complete the game with 211 yards and two touchdowns. And as you can expect, fans are rooting for Arch Manning over Ewers as the main signal caller. We’ll see what will happen in the upcoming days.
