Steve Sarkisian and Quinn Ewers have been a durable HC-QB duo that can pass the test of time and doubt. The Texas Longhorns retain their tradition of sending a handful of players to the NFL combine each year, with the numbers standing at 14 this time, including Jaydon Blue, Isaiah Bond, Quinn Ewers, and others. ”I know Jaydon Blue and Isaiah Bond are going to run great times. They’re going to really roll. I think Matt Golden is going to surprise people with his versatility at receiver,” coach Sark said when asked about the notable Combine names from his team for the year. Yes, we all felt the same push in our gut to ask, What about your boy, the Texas Crown Jewel, Quinn Ewers? Well, it seems the coach phenom has read our pulses and answered it with a banger.

Quinn Ewers’s journey in Texas in his final year was a roller coaster ride. He endured a torn oblique but still played through the games. From enduring doubts about his future at Austin amidst the Arch Manning fantasy (as shined through the two games against UL Monroe and Mississippi State), Ewers came a long way before deciding to leave for the pro. But even in the draft, he is undervalued for being tagged as injury-prone. The 3,472 yards, 31 TDs, and 12 picks in 2024 couldn’t evade the uncertainty of his availability to throw at the combine.

Coach Sark didn’t decline the fear, but he knows what Ewers can do with his rock-solid resilience. In a recent interview with Sportscenter, Sarkisian left a message for teams planning to draft the Texas poster boy. ”I think one is that they are going to see this guy throw tonight, and I think he’s going to throw darts,” Sarkisian dished out big hope to all the fans. “I think he is just really going to be on point with his ability to throw football.’

”I think something that gets lost, you know this guy has endured a lot in his time with us at the University of Texas, is his resiliency. This guy has always bounced back. You know, he had to fight through a bunch of different injuries along the way. Some of these things are hard to measure at a combine or pro day.”  Sark added a pinch of salt in the brewing hope. So, the injury scare is still there but not pitted as one of his weaknesses; rather, it is one of his biggest strengths to cut through anything and everything

We will see how Quinn Ewers and his injury horrors will play against each other in the NFL draft down the road. But as long as he gets the premium push from the blueblood veterans like Mike McCarthy, his future is in the safe hands.

Quinn Ewers gets a much-needed edge from the former NFL head coach amidst the draft controversy

Quinn Ewers’s NFL development has always been a hot pick among fans. Ewers had some slump in his resume for sure but not everything is his fault at the large. The legacy he has built over the years under the center is unmatched. I mean, who could forget the stupendous 33-yard beauty to Isaiah Bond by Ewers during a game against the Michigan Wolverines? Some moves, numbers, and records are etched in the history.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Quinn Ewers' resilience enough to silence the critics and shine in the NFL draft?

Have an interesting take?

There is a reason why Sarkisian kept choosing Ewers as the guy and not Arch Manning until the last minute before destiny derailed him from the run. But coming to his injury drawbacks and a few turnover issues, a little push may work perfectly in strengthening his slightly doomed stock ahead of April’s draft day.

During the February 28 episode of The Rich Eisen Show, NFL insider Tom Pelissero revealed Mike McCarthy and Ewers spent a week together watching tapes. The HC couldn’t get enough of the kid. He told the NFL insider, “I talked to Mike and he was (like, I) couldn’t say enough good stuff about Quinn Ewers as a young man. The attentiveness—Mike said I’m like a kid in an ice cream shop. I could talk all day, every day, with this guy just about football and scheme. He’s going to impress people through the interview process.” Later, it turned out that Ewers and the former Cowboys head coach had teamed up to work on Ewers’s board work, initiating and navigating his conversations and relations with the NFL parties.
