Is Arch Manning the future of Texas Longhorns, or does Quinn Ewers still hold the crown?

It all started during the Week 3 game between the Texas Longhorns and UTSA. just a few minutes went into the game and what were we seeing? The Heisman Trophy candidate and a third-year starter of the Longhorns, Quinn Ewers, took help for going out of the field. Later, it was known he suffered an abdominal strain. Everyone was aware of Ewers’ abilities, but his replacement, Arch Manning, was still a new name in the college football world. But Manning impressed everyone with 9-of-12 for 223 yards with four touchdown passes, three rushing attempts for 53 yards, and a rushing touchdown in the game against UTSA. If you just forget, he entered the game in the second quarter, you all! Does that mean Steve Sarkisian will move ahead with him even if Ewers comes back, all fit and fine?

No, that’s not the case because, on Thursday, Sarkisian made it clear when Ewers would return. He was back to practice last week and will start the week seven red rivalry game. Steve Sarkisian was virtually present on ESPN college football’s recent episode. “Well, I think it speaks volumes to the character of both young men. Both these guys work extremely hard. They both understand and respect what the other guys doing and his development and both kind of at different stages,” Sarkisian said, putting an end to the ongoing QB debate between Arch Manning and Quinn Ewers.

He continued by saying, “Quite frankly, Quinn, in year three, with us as a third-year starter. Arch in year two, I’ve been thoroughly impressed by both guys and their work ethic, but more importantly, I’ve been impressed with them is just who they are teammates, and especially teammates with one another, the support they give each other, whether it’s Quinn in there and arch supporting him, or when Arch was in there last couple weeks and Quinn was supporting him. So we’re really fortunate. I know there’s probably a lot of guys around the country like to be in our situation, but we’re fortunate to have two really good players, but better than that two really good teammates.

With that, it is crystal clear who’s going to play against Oklahoma. Now, let’s look at Quinn Ewers and Manning’s performances in the season so far.

Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning?

After taking Quinn Ewers’ position, Manning made waves with his breathtaking performance. his contributed thoughts on all the games he played resulted in the Longhorns’ 5-0 undefeated record. Entering Saturday’s game, Manning completed 55 of 78 attempts, with a 70.5% completion rate. for 901 passing yards and 9 passing touchdowns. Added 82 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns. However, he also threw two interceptions.

On the other hand, Quin Ewers, who was sidelined for two games after suffering an injury in the game against UTSA, used the bye week so well and now he’s back in the pavilion. So far, in the 2024 season, Quinn Ewers has completed 691 passing yards, eight touchdowns, and just two interceptions. Even after staying absent for the two games, this guy is still relevant to the Heisman containership being every analyst’s favorite.

After looking at all the possible scenarios, it can be said that Texas is going to stay in the top position no matter who’s leading their QB position, Quinn Ewers or Arch Manning. With Ewers holding one year of better experience, given him that extra edge.
