Entering yesterday’s game, the Georgia Bulldogs were an underdog, and Texas was not aware they were facing the dawgs! Georgia roared at the Darrell K. Royal Memorial Stadium to showcase they still wear the SEC crown, leaving Steve Sarkisian worried! They still hold strong CFP chances. And Georgia fans cheered when Texas’s superfan Matthew McConaghy uttered, “Alright, alright, alright,” after halftime because the Bulldogs ran out to a 23-0 lead till then! Are you aware of any future prospects who watched this game? The game must have changed their mind!
On3Recruits latest episode highlights all the deets of the 5-star prospects watching this game. Host Josh Newberg talked with a Texas insider who answered all the questions about these prospects, starting with Georgia’s No. 1 edge, Isaiah Gibson, who committed to Georgia in June 2024. “This is a big one. So, Isaiah Gibson, I think that he’s just in town to see a great game.” Now that he was there watching the Texas vs. Georgia game, chances are nil for him to even consider visiting Texas. Gibson is a Georgia native and after watching yesterday’s game, he’s not mad to flip from Georgia! Not even a chance for Steve Sarkisian to switch his commitment.
Moving forward, they talked about Riley Pettijohn. “I talked to his dad, and he said that his son’s not anywhere close to rethinking his commitment to Ohio State; Isaac lives in Georgia. Anytime a high-profile recruit is committed to an out-of-region school and visits the in-state powerhouse, my antenna goes to you, but he lives in the state of Texas,” Newberg said.

So before yesterday’s game, the Longhorns coaching staff and Sarkisian still tried to flip Riley Pettijohn, who’s the No. 2 linebacker recruit in the 2025 class as per both 247Sports and On3 rankings. He was about to make his first unofficial visit to Texas this fall after he committed to Ohio State in the summer, which did happen. Yesterday was Riley’s unofficial visit to Texas, despite committing to Ohio State. While it was Texas and Steve Sarkisian’s best shot to impress Pettijohn in this key matchup, they failed to grab that opportunity by falling 15-30 against the Georgia Bulldogs. The game was just crazy!
Steve Sarkisian’s boys failed miserably against Georgia
In the clash of No. 1 ranked Texas against No. 5 ranked Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, even after facing all the odds, Georgia secured a remarkable win. The College GameDay crew was quite excited, as they predicted Texas over Georgia to win this game. It’s not about only them; even all fans in our sports group polls also predicted the same thing to happen. However, Georgia swiped out all the hopes of the Longhorns for victory quite early in the game.
When the Bulldogs took a 23-0 lead in the first half, the fans wearing burned orange jerseys already started worrying. Texas managed to score 15 points late in the third quarter, but that didn’t help them from the defeat. But here is one: even though Georgia won, their star quarterback, Carson Beck, was not in his actual foam.
What’s your perspective on:
Did Georgia Bulldogs just expose Texas Longhorns as overrated in their shocking 30-15 victory?
Have an interesting take?
Even Quinn Evans threw more yards with 211 compared to Beck’s 175! Beck even had three interceptions. That’s just hilarious. While rushing, Beck secured just eight yards on four carries. This kind of play was not expected from a Heisman candidate. Beck certainly disappointed the fans, even though his team won. All the credit goes to an under-performing Georgia defense that finally showed when it mattered the most, earning their head coach the 100th win of his young coaching career.
