Steve Sarkisian didn’t hold back from openly accusing the referees of showing bias during the SEC Championship Game. The controversial call that occurred was a huge blow for Texas, as it had the potential to alter the game’s momentum. Moments like these can feel incredibly precarious, like walking on a tightrope where one misstep could result in everything falling apart. Each decision made was a risky gamble, causing everyone to hold their breath, desperately hoping that the next move wouldn’t shatter their championship aspirations.

Such calls in between crucial games will not only define your position in the league but will also give you an edge in the rankings, and losing at this point is something that no one wants. However, this led to an even weirder situation in the Texas Longhorns game today against Georgia. At a point, the Bulldogs were leading the scoreboard with 16-13 against the Longhorns and looked pretty impressive. But Texas got 8 penalties when the game just crossed halftime. Even Steve Sarkisian looks dissatisfied with this take as he said, “Well hopefully they call them for a holding one of these times, too.” Eight penalties for 80 yards in a single game is not a good sign.

What’s your perspective on:

With 8 penalties already, are the Longhorns their own worst enemy in this playoff race?

Have an interesting take?

Although Texas limited the Dawgs to 260-54 total yards in the first quarter, they only managed a 6-3 lead. Why, all thanks to the penalties that came straight their way to winning the game. The penalties were mainly because of the Texas offensive line holding up the Dawgs, which later turned into their worst nightmare.

This game is really important for both teams in terms of their standing in the quarterfinals as top-four-seeded teams. Yes, you heard that right: there are high chances that both teams will make it to the playoffs regardless of the results of the game, but the one twist in the story is that the winner of this game will get a chance to skip the first round. Well, no hustle of again fighting for a spot in the top four seedings is something people die for, and now you can understand why coach Sarkisian looked furious about the call.

Well, talking about the Texas Longhorns’ performance this season, the team is currently at 11-1, and the only game they lost was against Georgia, the only ranked team too. But when we talk about the Bulldogs’ schedule, they faced tougher opponents this season, like Alabama, so their record of 10-2 will not be a fair comparison against the Longhorns. But all that matters in the end is the rankings; Texas tops the chart, but many analysts denied agreeing to it.

Analyst supporting Dawgs over Steve Sarkisian’s team

Now that the season is almost heading towards an interesting point, the game is all about ranks and wins, but somehow analyst Joel Klatt totally disagrees with the fact. Last week’s CFP Dawgs were in 5th position, whereas the Longhorns were in 2nd. And somehow Georgia entered today’s game as an underdog team.

Yes, that’s right, but isn’t it the same team that sacked Texas quarterbacks seven times during their previous game? As Joel Klatt says, “We’ve got Georgia as an underdog against Texas at home basically, but I disagree.” Well, obviously ranks don’t matter when you know the worth of the teams.

Moreover, the Longhorns have the best offensive line in the country, and yet Georgia managed to get inside them quite efficiently in their last game. Plus, in this game, even in the first quarter, Texas had a 3-point lead over them. Georgia held up the game till the end moment and finally broke the tie by scoring 22-19 against the Longhorns. Joel Klatt totally called it! The underdogs aren’t underdogs anymore!
