Miller Moss stayed loyal to USC—Is he the next big thing in college football?

USC are on a roll this season. After their top-notch win against LSU in week 1, they won by 48-0 against Utah State. Lincoln Riley’s decision to make Miller Moss a starting QB was a hit. The gap left by Caleb Williams is no longer there by Moss’s power-packed play. “We worked really hard throughout the off-season to establish that identity,” were Miller Moss’s words after he led his team to a massive 27-20 win over LSU. After deciding to stay with the Trojans despite being a backup for two years, he earned immense respect from his teammates, his coaches, and his fans. In a recent appearance, head coach Lincoln Riley praised Miller Moss for everything he has done for the team.

In the recent episode of ‘All Facts No Brakes with Keyshawn Johnson’, Lincoln Riley uttered some big words for USC quarterback Miller Moss, saying, “He’s done a great job early on here in his career. There’s no question he is; you know, he’s really smart. He’s one of the smartest ones, and maybe the smartest one that I’ve, that I’ve had. ” There is no doubt Riley stated some facts here because right after joining the Trojans, Moss was making waves and his recent performance in the game against LSU has proved why Riley calls him the smartest.

Riley referred to Moss’s journey with the Trojans and how he stayed loyal to the program by saying, “he’s got a great mind for it. He’s had a, you know, kind of cool story. Obviously, it’s been well documented in terms of, you know, dreamed of being a USC Trojans, you know, stay here when he didn’t have to. Obviously, really put the program, and I think both the program and his dreams of not just playing quarterback this level but doing it at this school, he put that front and center, and I think that’s earned him the respect of our team, the locker room, really the entire program.

Riley highlighted a few facts about Miller Moss. First, it was his dream, since he was 10, to be with the Trojans. He showed patience by waiting for two years for his chance to come, and in August 2024, Lincoln Riley rewarded him by naming him as the starting QB for USC.

Riley explained Miller Moss’s performance in last year’s Holiday Bowl, after which he became a household name in college football. A key game for USC to finally end a disappointing 2023 season on a positive note, and Coach Riley had an issue. He didn’t have the services of QB1, Caleb Williams. It’s okay, Moss must have said, as led USC to a 42-28 win over Louisville in the 2023 Holiday Bowl.

Moss threw for 372 yards along with six touchdowns, which became the talk of the town. Riley believes Moss has a long way to go, and he’s done a great job leading them. He called him a “steady” and “cerebral” player, which his position demands. His holiday bowl performance garnered him the title of the game’s offensive MVP honors. Besides that, in the 2024 season opener game against LSU, he completed 27 out of 36 passes for 378 yards and had two touchdowns. leading them to the victory. It won’t be a shocker if you see him being a top-10 pick in the future NFL draft.
