Penn State is gearing up to face its toughest battle. It’s not about Boise State; it’s about the single unstoppable horse, Ashton Jeanty, that the Nittany Lions have been losing their sleep over lately. Jeanty’s giant 2,497 yards and 29 touchdowns made him 131 yards away from smashing a milestone achieved by Barry Sanders, which can be a growing concern even one of the best college defense in the world. Moreover, the most menacing thing about him is that he is getting stronger through contact and never loses grip on his tempo when on the field, no matter what. So, Penn State’s defense will be on high alert to limit him. If they can do it, the half job is done. Tom Allen, the defensive coordinator for the Penn State Nittany Lions, shares some crucial strategies to follow.
Penn State’s defense technically has no reason to worry. They have it all on their plate. Becoming the nation’s top defense this season, finishing sixth in points allowed (15.9), and sitting fourth in yards allowed isn’t a joke. Last week, they had a terrific showdown against SMU Mustangs in the first-round playoff. They reeled in just 10 points against SMU, a team that averaged 36.5 points.
”I think we have two really talented quarterbacks, which we do or running backs which we do, but you know, anytime you have a chance to go against other elite guys, it’s going to help you. But he [Jeanty] does some things that most people can’t do, you know, and so, it’s just been, something we just we take a lot of pride in being great tacklers here at Penn State, and you have to do that to play great defense,” said the DC

”Obviously, our biggest responsibility this week here is to find a way to effectively, you know, control him and tackle him, so those guys have helped us along the way to prepare for that,” Tom Allen broke down a safe plan for handling Boise State and Jeanty.
The impact running backs Allen was talking about were the highlights from the last game, Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen. The two beasts were running absolutely angry against the Mustangs. Their power, aggression, and grit amassed 389 rushing yards and five total touchdowns, derailing the opponent’s momentum. Both of them had some hiccups on their way, with Singleton sustaining an injury during a recent matchup. But their resurgence couldn’t hit at a better time than this.
That being said, Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson is well aware of their punch and crafted a separate game plan for Singleton and Allen, a pair he dubbed “two of the best running backs” he has ever seen in his career. But anyway, Boise State has its ultimate weapon, Ashton Jeanty. Brownie point? They will have Jeanty with a rebounded physique and mind.

A fully healthy Ashton Jeanty might be a nightmare for Penn State
Since its victory in the Mountain West championship game, Boise State availed three weeks of rest before they bring all their power together in the College Football Playoff debut against Penn State. Broncos Running back Ashton Jeanty has had a taxing season. On the one hand, he mounted scores for the team and led the nation to a historic playoff path; on the other, he fought a close battle with Travis Hunter to have the upper hand in the Heisman race. It’s natural for his body to be a little fatigued. But since he will get 24 days off between games, it seems a luxury for his star prowess to be charged and get back to a superior form.
Also, Jeanty took a couple of minor injuries in his left arm and lower leg in between the season. After consistent medical care and proper rest, he is fine now. ”That’s you now, that’s completely you know, healed up so glad that it is, so I can be closer to 100%,” said the Florida kid.
