Is Deion Sanders the savior FSU needs, or should fans stick with Mike Norvell's vision?

The 2024 season has just pulled up its curtains, but the CFB fans are already buzzing about the 2025 season. But what makes them ditch this season and focus on the next? The suspense created surrounding Florida State Seminoles’ HC Mike Norvell’s job at the edge. And here comes the big news! As per the rumors, FSU might count on Colorado Buffaloes HC Deion Sanders to step in Norvell’s shoes. Now that Boston College Eagles crushed them to dust on September 2, rumors further flared up now that the FSU HC is in the hot seat. But the fans say no to coaching changes, even if it means Deion Sanders takes up the role.

When Norvell and Co. hit the field, hardly anyone expected them to lose so badly. The Bill O’Brien era began as the Eagles outcasted the Seminoles 28-13. Boston College’s O-line dominated while FSU’s expected hero, QB DJ Uiagalelei fumbled badly going 21-for-42 for 272 yards with one touchdown and one interception. This scenario has been enough to re-fuel the rumors that had otherwise taken a backseat.

Going by the speculations, the Seminoles are on an HC hunt as they have now lost their faith in Norvell as the Noles got embarrassed in their home ground. Plus, the September 2 loss has been costly on FSU since it sent them to 0-2, knocking them out of the CFB race. But what went wrong with Norvell’s coaching this time?

FSU lost 10 players to the NFL Draft and the batch comprised three athletes with All-ACC honors and six players who had been a part of the second or third team. And here Deion’s chances reign supreme since recruiting players is his top forte. However, Coach Prime will not be leaving Boulder any time soon. He just landed a $250,000 bonus for boosting the Buffs’ media value. On the other hand, as per the assumptions, Deion’s salary in Tallahassee will be around $10 million per year. Is FSU ready to empty their piggy bank to bring Deion on board? Well, the fans do not think so!

Fans weigh in on Norvell’s future with FSU

What’s your perspective on:

Is Deion Sanders the savior FSU needs, or should fans stick with Mike Norvell's vision?

Have an interesting take?

It has been only a year, that the FSU handed out the $5.5 million cheque to Norvell for his coaching role. This left a fan dismissing the fact that they are in a position to snub him and take Deion in return, “FAU just gave Norvell a Massive contract like last year. 0% chance they fire him for Deion.”

Another fan highlighted how it’s disrespectful for Norvell to be in this position after the effort he had put in to keep the FSU boat afloat even after losing prime players to the NFL. The frustrated fan commented, “Yall dumb af if you think Mike Norvell out as coach. Take a freakin chill pill. He’s rebuilding a team god dammit. He lost 10 CORE PLAYERS FROM HIS TEAM. Remember how long it took us to get to this point last year? Sit down and chill tf out. Sick of this sh-t. The disrespect.”

In case, FSU had the plan to replace Norvell they would not have extended his contract which led to a jump from $5.5 million to $9.875 million. Thus a fan commented, “He just signed an extension this past offseason you get on here and lie every day Mike Norvell job is fine for the next couple of years.” To another fan, it’s too early to drag Norvell through the dirt for FSU failing for only one season, “No tf there isn’t. We were all emotional but Norvell has time to turn it around. In the heat of the moment our emotions go crazy and we blame anything we can. What he built so far is worth a single fall off season. Now if he sh-ts the bed next year, conversations will be had.”

There came another reaction from a fan who rather stripped off the X account for posting outrageous content that has absolutely no value, “The biggest load of sh-t I’ve ever seen this account tweet…and that’s says a lot.” Can Mike Norvell give his fans a reason to cheer? Do share your thoughts.
