“Setting his team up for disaster.” That is the opinion most people have about Shedeur Sanders. It’s wild that the kid, while being a good QB, has become a subject of mockery for CFB fans. Back on August 22nd, we saw Shedeur Sanders get dragged through the mud by multiple fans on X. So On3 had taken to X to post a list where they decided to put Shedeur as the 4th NFL Draft pick for the Titans. The internet collectively lost their minds, claiming, “Shedeur that high is crazy.” This is the same kid with a completion rate of around 76% last year. If we put him next to the current top QBs in college football, then he could easily come out on top.

That is exactly what Dalton Wasserman from PFF College also thinks. On the “Big 12 Quarterback Rankings” posted to X by PFF on August 25th, Dalton decided to put Shedeur Sanders in the No.1 spot, followed by Noah Fifita and Garrett Greene. Interestingly, the fans lost their minds yet again. “I am so sick of this. Thank god they can start getting their a**es kicked and people can start ignoring them again,” a fan was quick to point out on X. The Shedeur hate is kind of weird if you give it a thought. If you look at the 2023 season stats, Shedeur is on par with some of the best, like Carson Beck and Jalen Milroe. The kid locked in 27 TDs and 3 interceptions while also managing to cover more than 3200 yards. That is not an overrated season. While it is understandable that the amount of trash-talking he did, he couldn’t back that up and ended up becoming the most sacked QB in 2023.

And to say that there’s some magical bias against Shedeur is wild. We have all seven major names in CFB like Paul Finebaum or Frank Michael Smith call out Shedeur directly by referring to him as irrelevant or suggesting that he is going to get his team ruined. However, some people have also backed Shedeur as well. We all saw back on August 3rd that ESPN’s Jordan Reid mentioned in his scouting report, “Scouts around the league have placed Sanders in the first tier of passers in the 2025 class”. It is true that Shedeur still has a lot to prove this year, however, the fans have no faith in him.

All this Shedeur hate

“Sanders over Fifita is crazy. The Colorado glaze is unreal” was the first thing a fan had pointed out after watching the list. Well, from a pure stats perspective, Fifita is somewhat behind Sheduer. That kid has locked in around 25 TDs with 2800+ yards. Shedeur still stands on top. However, Noah is much better at defending himself. And this is something that’s Shedeur’s Achilles heel. Another fan continued the comparison by stating, “No way Shi**er Sanders is better than Garrett Greene.” You have to keep in mind that Shedeur locked in a solid 70+ completion rate last year. That was the 13th-best in the entire season.

Another fan noted, “Lmao sanders is 5th at best.” This is still debatable. His overall skill as an offensive charge makes him one of the top QBs in the nation. Now that Deion Sanders has brought over Pat Shurmur, we can easily see a much-needed improvement in Shedeur’s overall defense. Finally, a fan said, “Sanders at 1?” Well, he can be if he does not repeat the same mistakes he made last year. As Reid has pointed out, “would often ignore an expiring internal clock by hanging on to the ball too long.” This was a big issue in 2023. If Coach Prime can bring the best out of his kid this season, then we might see one of the best QB performances in CFB.
