People have given them enough flake, but even though Sherrone Moore and the Wolverines couldn’t end the season with a playoff spot, they sure did manage to change the recruitment game. The team in blue has been weird all year. It is understandable that after Jim Harbaugh left, there would be some fall-off, but Sherrone Moore and Co. were hit TOO hard. They lost to Indiana and Illinois. Think about that. But then the OSU game happened and who could’ve thought that this broken roster with a walk-on quarterback will manage to win against the Buckeyes on the OSU home turf? Sherrone Moore has redeemed himself and the Michigan man is alive and breathing.

And to add that cherry on the cake, Moore is bringing us one of the best recruitment seasons for the Wolverines. Back on On3, Josh Newberg pointed out that there might be another addition to the Wolverines roster. “There’s a major development that went down on Friday, E.J. Holland of the Wolverine was in Texas…. He went to his game, playoff game after the game, he spoke to E.J Holland and said that he was thinking about delaying his signing because of the Michigan Wolverines,” Newberg mentioned. Now who is this player? 5-star OT Ty Haywood. For now, Haywood is committed to Bama, but this could change at any moment.

With Wednesday kicking in, Haywood has to sign that letter of intent and if he doesn’t, then that’s another big catch for the Wolverines. “And so obviously good news for Michigan right now. If they can hold off,” Steve Wiltfong added. See, Bama will try to squeeze in and get that signing done. Right now Moore has to play the waiting game.

It’s kind of wild that despite having a 7-5 year, Moore and his recruitment team are still managing to flip so many recruits. The first big hit was Shamari Earls from Georgia. This was already confirmed as Earls loved Michigan.

However, the biggest surprise is still the Bryce Underwood flipping. Now you might say that Michigan did it through the NIL money, but it is still a major deal. That $10.5 million got them the best quarterback of the 2025 class. A good tradeoff for the roster which has been struggling with QB issues since the start of the season. All of this does make you think: is 2025 the year of Michigan’s comeback?

Can Sherrone Moore's recruitment magic turn Michigan into a powerhouse again by 2025?

Michigan coming back for the crown

Let’s get one thing straight; if Moore has any plans to make a comeback, the first thing he needs to do is switch up his staff. Don’t get us wrong, Kirk Campbell is a good OC and Wink Martindale is a good DC, but they are just not good enough.

If Moore wants to change the tides of the game with the new roster that the Wolverines’ recruitment has managed to grab, then he needs a new OC and DC. With that part sorted, it is starting to feel like 2025 is THE year.

They finally have some good players and with Underwood in, Moore won’t have to think about rotating quarterbacks during games. We might be seeing a new revival and maybe another natty for the Wolverines (this time without cheating :D).
