Well, people love to throw Shilo Sanders and Shedeur into the same pot, always comparing them, right? On one side, Shedeur is generating buzz as a potential first-round pick, while Shilo is facing challenges such as injuries holding him back and uncertainties swirling around his draft position. What’s interesting is Deion Sander‘s involvement, drawing comparisons between Shedeur and Shilo as if it’s a rivalry. But Shilo isn’t just sitting back and letting it slide.

Now, if you don’t know, Shilo Sanders once had quarterback dreams, but reality had other plans. He ended up excelling as a collegiate safety for six years. A recent high school clip resurfaced, showcasing one of Shilo’s wobbly throws, which caught Coach Prime’s attention. The moment @rivalsdotcom posted it, Coach Prime chimed in, “Oh, look at how young Shedeur is; that’s Shilo! You know, when he threw that duck, I told him, ‘Let’s go, it’s over. It’s over. No, no, your brother has it from now on. Leave it alone; you’re not a quarterback. Your brother has it.”

The funniest part? At first glance, Coach Prime believed it was Shedeur. That is until closer inspection revealed the QB was Shilo. But Shilo Sanders wasted no time in defending himself, hitting the comments section, saying, “It was windy.”

However, it’s all part of their fun banter. Plus, Coach Prime loves giving a hard time to his children. Remember his straightforward take on Shelomi’s switch to Alabama’s basketball team? He called Shelomi’s move “stupid.” And let’s not forget when Shilo Sanders had a rough game against the Kansas Wildcats. Deion Sanders was the first one to call it out, saying, “I thought he played horrible.”  It’s just a part of his tough parenting approach.

But don’t sleep on this as Shilo Sanders has just faced an even bigger setback. The talented safety from Colorado won’t be able to showcase his skills at the upcoming NFL Scouting Combine. Despite his talent and well-known last name, Shilo didn’t make the final list of 329 invited players. It’s not surprising, though – as injuries kept him off the field for periods, affecting his performance consistency.

However, missing out on the combine is a blow for a young player eager to make the leap to the professional level, especially with his brother Shedeur gaining attention at a different level. It’s a challenging situation, but it’s too soon to write him off – his journey is far from over.

A ray of hope left for Shilo Sanders

Well, Shilo Sanders faces a critical juncture, where his future could either validate his critics or initiate a remarkable comeback befitting his family legacy. As his football future hinges on the next two or three years; although the path is unclear, it’s not hopeless. In fact, this moment could actually spark something bigger — an underdog story inspiring future generations. Let’s be honest, adversity doesn’t shut doors. It tests who’s willing to kick them open.

Can Shilo Sanders turn his setbacks into a legendary comeback story like other undrafted NFL stars?

Similarly, Matt McChesney, a graduate of Colorado, feels the same about Shilo Sanders, as no one wanna see a hero win without hustle. He says, “He does, yeah, go six seventh-rounder, undrafted and then use that as fuel and fire to go (f——) tear up your opportunity and go play for 10 years, then just be like, ‘Yeah my brother went first pick overall, I went undrafted, I played for 10 years, he played for 12 years, like our dad is a first-ballot Hall of Famer.’ That’d be pretty cool to me.” Now that’s a narrative worth watching.

And if anyone needs evidence that being overlooked in the draft doesn’t determine a player’s career, just take a look at Buffs’ former RB Phillip Lindsay. Despite not receiving an invitation to the Combine or a Draft call, he emerged as an undrafted rookie who impressed at the Broncos’ camp and earned the starting position. By the end of the season, he had not only secured a spot on the roster but also became a Pro Bowler. The league values performance over pre-draft hype, and Shilo Sanders has an opportunity to demonstrate his worth.

Moreover, the list of players who found success later in their careers goes on. In 2013, the NFL did not even consider Adam Thielen, a consistently productive WR, for a combine invite. Without any scouts or analysts touting his potential stardom, he persevered as a tryout player and eventually became a multiple-time 1,000-yard receiver for the Vikings. While Shilo Sanders may encounter obstacles along the way, history shows that this is inconsequential. What truly matters is his future actions.
