Shilo Sanders might just be the quietest Sanders in the game—a walking mystery wrapped in shoulder pads. While Shedeur’s out there running the show and Bucky is stealing spotlights like it’s his full-time gig, Shilo’s been keeping it chill. No flashy interviews, no viral antics—just making plays (or missing ‘em, depending on the day). Fans have been scratching their heads like, ‘Why’s he always MIA?’ Well, the man finally opened up and broke the silence, and trust us, it’s giving ‘Silent Sanders, loud truths.’

On January 14th, Shilo Sanders hopped into the Reach the People Podcast. Darius Sanders didn’t waste any time, grilling him with the Q that everyone’s literally been dying to ask: “They keep asking why Shilo is such a recluse. Why do we never see Shilo?” And Shilo Sanders didn’t hold back. He cracked up before answering, “Fam, ’cause I pay too much rent!” Shilo joked, laughing when Darius pressed him on why he’s missing from most family events and any gathering at Boulder. “I wanna enjoy my rent. I wanna make it worth it, bruh.”

When asked why people hardly ever see him in the mix, Shilo responded as cool as ever. “Enjoying my rent, that’s it. Or in the mountains. I’ma start traveling with y’all more though. Whenever Shedeur just plans a trip, whenever Bucky and everybody goes, Ima go,” he promised. But then he kept it real. “It’s hard to get me out of the house, bro. My home is the most chill place I can be.”

It’s clear Shilo loves his sanctuary. But he has been MIA from a lot of big Buffs events lately. It started even before the season kicked off when Deion and the team had a leadership retreat. Guess who wasn’t there? Shilo. And let’s not forget that his bankruptcy case was still dragging on at the time.

Things didn’t get better once the season started. Shilo basically vanished again when Coach Prime threw a special Christmas party for his inner circle—Shedeur, Hunter, Deion Jr., Jordan Seaton, the whole gang—in San Antonio. They even went to SeaWorld! But Shilo? Nowhere to be found. Then, get this, Shilo even skipped major events like Travis Hunter’s Heisman trip to NYC, making people wonder if he’s checked out. Not so fast.

On the field, Shilo’s resume speaks volumes: 184 tackles, nine pass deflections, six interceptions, and even a sack during his college career. NFL scouts might not see an early-rounder, but with stats like that, he’s probably a late-round pick.

Deion Sanders opens up about missing his sons Shedeur and Shilo Sanders at Colorado

Deion Sanders is already feeling the heat badly. The Colorado Buffs’ head coach admitted how strange it is not having his sons, Shilo and Shedeur, around. Speaking at the Buffs’ first 2025 team meeting, Deion kept it raw. “I’ve been praying about this day. Now, I can just be a coach and not (also) be a dad,” he said, per Well Off Media.

Since 2017, Deion has worn two hats—dad and coach—starting at Trinity Christian School, then at Jackson State, and finally at Colorado. Shedeur, Shilo, and even Deion Sanders Jr. followed their pops through thick and thin, creating a family dynasty wherever they went. But now, with Shilo and Shedeur eyeing the NFL, Coach Prime has to adjust to life without his boys on the sidelines.

“It’s hard to see them go, but this is what we worked for. I told them it’s time to shine, and now they’re ready to light it up at the next level.” But even Coach Prime, with all his swagger, can’t help but miss his sons on the sidelines. He’s always been their biggest cheerleader, and not having them around makes Boulder feel a lil quieter and a bit weirder for us to watch next season.

With Shilo’s college career in the books and Shedeur likely heading for early-draft glory, the Sanders’ sons chapter at Colorado finally closes. But as Prime steers the Buffs into a new era with Julian Lewis and Co., the legacy his boys leave behind will echo for years to come. And who knows? Maybe Shilo will take that next vacation after all—just as long as the showerheads measure up.
