From “The Talk of the Town” to “Cheaters/Scam/Michigan Man is dead” the Wolverines have had quite the year. Ask any Michigan Wolverines fan and they will still say that letting Jim Harbaugh go was a mistake. Not only did the program lose its entire “natty champs” appeal, but it became a major laugh stocking with the entire cheating scandal piling up. See, Sherrone Moore is an amazing offensive coordinator. In the Harbaugh era, the Michigan Wolverines offense became a force everyone was scared of facing because of Moore. However, as an HC? Yeah, the best Sherrone Moore can do is put the Michigan Man on .500. Unless there is some divine intervention…
…And it looks like Sherrone Moore has been blessed with it. With every important senior (Colston Loveland, Kalel Mullings, and Will Johnson) eligible for the draft saying “bye-bye”, EDGE Derrick Moore returns for another year with the bluebloods. “I just want to get back to where Michigan used to be. When I got here, Michigan wasn’t a talk-down program,” Moore had claimed. This is a blessing in disguise. If anything, the only part of Michigan football that stood out this year was the defense.

Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore explained what went into his decision to return for a senior season:
“I just want to get back to where Michigan used to be. When I got here, Michigan wasn’t a talk-down program. We were the talk of college football. So I want to get Michigan back to… pic.twitter.com/RGgI3IRwzK

How on earth do you think UM even managed to get their 4th win over the Bucks? THE DEFENSE. They were up close and personal with Ryan Day and pressured QB Will Howard into having a nightmare of a game. And while Derrick didn’t see that much playtime this season, do not forget that he still was one of the core guys that helped Harbaugh get the natty win against Bama.
Went for a massive sack on Jalen Milroe and got 2 solo tackles for UM. Postseason, he was on 34 total tackles with 5 sacks under his belt. Getting him back right before the Bama vs Wolverines ReliaQuest Bowl rings tunes of the past.
After that entire OSU win, Sherrone Moore has turned around the year for the bluebloods. The once-dead Michigan Man is now resurrected and yearning for more!! This, with the added fact that Bryce Underwood is on the team, just points to an amazing 2025 season. However, the Alabama hurdle still remains!!
Crimson Tide is back for revenge
Pairing Tide against the Wolverines for the Bowl game has to be something poetic. Both teams are coming off of a disappointing season and no playoff run and both teams have lost their legendary head coaches.

If this ain’t the best revenge match, we don’t know what is. See, going into this, Kalen DeBoer is going to be plagued by the same old problems. Bama has already managed to fumble 14 different players to the portal, and this, paired with the fact that Jalen Milroe has turned into a one-trick pony, doesn’t really paint a good picture for the once-great Alabama offense.
Once again, it will fall on OC Nick Sheridan to make the proper play calls. This is one game where they cannot risk getting “too physical”. Ohio State tried, and they lost. If Milroe can run the football with adequate coverage from the offensive line, then Bama has a shot at winning.
Because at the end of the day, Michigan is losing out on Johnson, Mason Graham, and Kenneth Grant, making the overall D-line quite weak. Also, Michigan has zero QB depth. Walk on Davis Warren has more interceptions than touchdowns, and Alex Orji is a mess.

We know that Kane Wommack‘s defense would handle the Wolverines’ offense with ease. Now, it all boils down to Sheridan and Milroe’s run game. If you fail then rely on Ryan Williams and the running corp. Bama has great talent. All they have to do is use it. Michigan doesn’t have much to answer with but they will not make it easy.
