Sherrone Moore got more than what he bargained for when he went down to Cocoa to scout 2026 four-star quarterback commit Brady Hart. But some other talents also caught their eye and it seems Hart’s commitment to Michigan could come with more good news for Moore and his beleaguered program that has failed to live up to the expectations this season.

As Michigan Sports Talk reported on November 18, Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore and offensive coordinator Kirk Campbell made a strategic visit to Cocoa High School in Florida. While they were there primarily for Hart, his teammate and close friend, four-star wide receiver Jayvan Boggs had their attention.

After seeing Boggs perform live, Moore offered him a scholarship, making it clear that Michigan is serious about flipping the talented wideout.  The 6-foot receiver is committed to UCF and has offers from Florida, Georgia, and Ohio State, among other teams, but Hart’s pledge to Michigan could tilt the scales in their favor.

“Brady Hart wants him here at Michigan. Now Michigan, their next step is to get him on campus for a visit, and we could potentially see him take an official visit to Michigan this weekend against Northwestern,” the host on Michigan Sports Talk said.

The player tweeted about the offer writing, “Blessed to receive an offer from the University of Michigan.” Notably, he tagged Hart in the tweet as well. Boggs has already confirmed that he will be visiting Michigan on Saturday to watch them face Northwestern, which again suggests, the program could be in some good news soon.

Michigan already boasts a promising receiver class for 2025, including Top-100 prospect Andrew Marsh and physical standouts like Jacob Washington and Jamar Browder. They are also pursuing LSU commit Derek Meadows, whose fate may hinge on Bryce Underwood’s decision. But adding Jayvan Boggs, with his established chemistry with Hart, could elevate the offense to another level.

Boggs isn’t your typical recruit. Standing at 6’1”, Boggs is sort of a route surgeon, you can say. His junior season stats are jaw-dropping The 2023 Mr. Florida Player of the Year hauled in 93 catches for 1,500 yards and 24 touchdowns leading his team to the state championship. According to 247Sports Composite, Boggs is ranked 231 in the ’25 class.

The scouting report from 247 describes Boggs as a “thick-cut wide receiver that racks up chunks of yardage after the catch.” The report also mentions that right now Boggs is “more of a build-speed prospect at this stage, but still finds ways to make an impact and get into the end zone. Should be viewed as a potential zone-coverage beater that can handle a high-volume of targets in an offense that features West Coast concepts.” Meanwhile, another teammate of Hart received an offer from Michigan.

Can Sherrone Moore's recruiting prowess save his job, or is Michigan's patience running thin?

The Wolverines have made an offer to four-star edge rusher Javion Hilson. He committed to Florida State back in January, but in September announced that he was open for recruitment. Hilson confirmed the news of the offer in a tweet. 247 describes Hilson as an “Athletic edge defender with long limbs and up-field burst. Excels as a face-up rusher and has hounded quarterbacks.” Though Texas Longhorns are reported to be leading his recruitment, the presence of Hart can once again change the game for Michigan.

While Moore and Co. are in a welcoming mood, his future at Michigan has come under scrutiny.

Will Sherrone Moore still be at Ann Arbor in 2025?

Things are a bit rough for the Wolverines in Ann Arbor. Sherrone Moore stepped up as head coach, and it’s been a challenge. He practically built an entirely new coaching staff, but they’re sitting at a 5-5 record with just two games left this season. On the bright side, Coach Moore is an absolute rock star in recruiting, bringing top talent to the maize and blue. Even when the wins aren’t piling up, the future looks promising! But for how long?

CBS Sports rounded up a bunch of writers to see which coaches are feeling the heat after a bumpy ’24 season. Sure enough, Michigan’s Sherrone Moore made the list. But here’s the twist: most agreed that it’s a free pass for the rookie head coach this time around. “This is essentially a mulligan year for Moore. At Michigan, you shouldn’t have those, but this is a unique situation,” said one of the writers.

But let’s be real, the scoreboard is the ultimate judge in football. Wins and losses are the ticket to job security or the fast track to the exit. Some folks say Coach Moore’s got a three-year clock ticking to turn things around, or he’s outta there. But in reality, they are betting 2025 will be the make-or-break year for him.
