It’s transfer season folks! The dominoes are falling here and there. Right now some programs are bearing the blows while others are benefitting out of the situation. The best example is that of Sherrone Moore’s program. Even though Michigan Wolverines caught hold of the No.1 recruit, Bryce Underwood, there have been a lot of misses. Interestingly, their most recent loss has been someone else’s gain. Here, turns out that Curt Cignetti has been a lucky one. After all, a Michigan player swapped wagons with the Google Me man’s Indiana Hoosiers.

Well, even if you are a Wolverines fan, you can’t deny that Moore’s program had its worst offense in a decade in 2024. They averaged 128 passing yards per game last season. Behind them, there were only four FBS teams that averaged less. Amidst the troubles, even Moore’s WR Tyler Morris got vocal about the challenges. Before facing off against the MSU, Morris shared, “I think there have been times when we’ve shown that we are hard to stop once we get rolling, but we’ve had trouble getting rolling.” Sadly, he refused to be part of the hustle and bustle and took the exit door once the transfer portal opened its gates. On December 3, he announced his entry into the transfer portal. The farewell note read, “After much consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with 1 year of eligibility remaining.” A month later, Morris found his new home.

And it’s the Hoosiers. On January 4, Morris tweeted a poster where he is seen donning the Indiana’s red and white jersey. The caption read, “Go Hoosiers.” Well, Moore’s WR’s stats have been enough to impress Cignetti. In the 2024 season, the athlete played in 11 games for the Wolverines and caught 23 passes for 248 yards and two touchdowns. Well, it has been a homecoming for Morris.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound has been a four-star recruit out of Bolingbrook (IL). While this has been a costly loss for Moore’s program, Cignetti might be on cloud nine. After all, they can now cross off a speedy slot receiver as Morris will serve as a punt returner. But amidst this excitement, we should not forget how Moore had a tough time losing talents.

Sherrone Moore’s Christmas setback

Around Christmas, when people were busy merry-making, probably it robbed the smile from Moore’s face. That’s because the Wolverines lost their three-star recruit to the transfer portal. Already notable players like QB Alex Orji, and WR Morris had decided to part ways hitting the transfer portal. Yet another blow came from the Wolverines RB Tavierre Dunlap. Moore’s heart must be still aching for the athlete who racked up 22 rush attempts for 138 yards.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Sherrone Moore's program in trouble, or can they bounce back from these transfer losses?

Even though he did not have much of a blockbuster 4 years stay in Ann Arbor, before moving out, Dunlap came with a touchdown in Week 13 on a 20-yard carry in the fourth quarter against Northwestern. Surprisingly, the young chap decided not to travel much far. Instead, committed to the Eastern Michigan Eagles program. Luckily, Sherrone Moore was able to fill the blank RB position. Thanks to Alabama Crimson Tide transfer, RB Justice Haynes who committed to Ann Arbor.

Now it’s high time that the Michigan HC starts looking for Tyler Morris’ replacement. There are a few names that Moore can consider. For instance, former Wolverine Ronnie Bell’s brother Kendrick Bell can be a good fit. After all, the versatile talents run in his bloodline that might give him the chance to become the next Tyler Morris. The other options are four-star wide receiver from last season’s recruiting class, Channing Goodwin, former Indiana Hoosiers receiver Donaven McCulley, and the list goes on.
