Sherrone Moore has his eyes set on a 2025 dynasty. With LSU’s recent struggles, Michigan is aggressively pursuing 5-star QB Bryce Underwood, despite his commitment to the Tigers. Even though Underwood seems firm on his decision, Michigan’s in-state boosters aren’t giving up. While the focus is on Underwood, Michigan is also actively recruiting 4-star CB Shamari Earls, who recently decommitted from South Carolina. However, the Wolverines’ aggressive recruitment moves faced a slight setback with the decommitment of a 2025 four-star quarterback.
Carter Smith declared on Wednesday evening his decommitment from Michigan on his X account, according to Hayes Fawcett. One of the best players in the 2025 class, Smith had been committed to the Wolverines since November 2023. Now, the Florida Top 100’s second-ranked quarterback wrote a heartfelt note on his X. This said, “I would like to start by thanking the coaching staff at Michigan for everything they have done for me. I would especially like to thank Coach Campbell for everything and for giving me such an incredible opportunity. With that being said, I would like to announce that I have decommitted from the University of Michigan.”

Whether he can commit is now the key question. At this point, Smith’s father, Dan, stated, “We’ve had multiple schools get back to us and are ready to take him. I think that’s the direction. There were a couple of surprises in there because they have kids right now.” But what are the choices? Wisconsin, Penn State, and Clemson are cited by On3 as noteworthy universities. Nonetheless, Smith stated last week, “I’m not going anywhere. There is not a better place on the planet. There isn’t much going on in my life for anyone wondering.“

And after his remarks, Steve Wiltfong claimed that the Michigan program was growing more certain that they were capable of turning Underwood around despite the fact the Wolverines were after him. But notice the tragedy—Smith has resumed hiring.
Still, there is the subject of Bryce Underwood’s hype. Does he have the best prospects or what?
Is Sherrone Moore’s Michigan really after Underwood?

Have an interesting take?
Although Bryce Underwood was determined to attend LSU, Moore wasn’t willing to give up. When Dave Portnoy, the creator of Barstool Sports, announced a week ago that he was staying with his $3 million wager on bringing Bryce to Ann Arbor, it ignited the internet. At the top, James Yoder raised the stakes by putting an additional $1 million on the line. Now that the transfer portal offer is on the table, it’s time for the 6’4″ player to make a wise decision.
Safe to say, to put their ideal QB on the board, the Michigan supporters used nearly every clichéd appeal card. They offered Underwood a better NIL than LSU, demonstrating their increased financial acumen. For the 17-year-old, this is a real temptation right on the plate. But, as shown in an IG comment, Bryce Underwood dismissed the notion that the Wolverines would make a greater offer to purchase him. Well, it’s too early to call this one. We’ll have to wait and see where the star athlete ends up after the season.
