Is Sherrone Moore ignoring Michigan's QB crisis while chasing recruitment dreams?

If you are a Michigan fan, we know things have been tough lately. From being the 2023 championship winners to straight getting snubbed from the playoffs, is not a great feeling, right? But thank god, you have got an HC like Sherrone Moore who refuses to brood over the past. The debut HC has already dedicated himself to a mission to flip players, coming up with a recruitment push. But that did not seem to sit well with the former Arizona State HC. The ex-HC turned CFB analyst laid out an elaborate plan for Moore to focus on the things that need the maximum attention at the moment.

If there is anything that has plagued the Michigan Wolverines most this season, it’s their QB woes. Not just one, but three options turned out to be a big flop for Moore’s program. As the Heisman voter, Zach Gelb once tweeted, “Soon Michigan is going to see if John O’Korn has any eligibility left for the rest of the season. That’s how bad the QB situation has been.” John O’Korn is their fourth QB in Michigan’s lineup after Davis Warren, Alex Orji and Jack Tuttle. But looks like Moore is running away from this problem and is on a mission to bolster his roster. He’s already got CB Shamari Earls and is going after 5-star QB Bryce Underwood. And that’s when Adam Breneman gave Moore a reality check: “Their playoff dreams are just about over, but that doesn’t mean this season’s over. Here’s the three things that Michigan needs to do right now to set them up for 2025.”

The ex-HC then cuts to the chase, “First, Michigan needs a solid transfer portal plan.” Maybe Moore got way too confident sitting on Jim Harbaugh’s seat that he did not bother to use the transfer portal to get a QB who has previous experience playing for other programs. But even Moore cannot be blamed. After all, things were in Harbuagh’s hands, and by the time he flipped to the NFL for the next HC to take over, the best quarterbacks were already taken by others. But Moore can fix things now. And what about the other gaps that Moore will have to fill?

Analyst’s wake-up call for Sherrone Moore

Here Breneman drops in another big reminder for the Wolverines HC to make the most use of their four-star recruit from Charlotte, North Carolina, Jadyn Davis. While Moore still wants the freshman QB to brush up his skills, Breneman thinks otherwise. “It’s time to get freshman quarterback Jaydn Davis some snaps,” stated the ex-Arizona State HC. Somewhere the 6’1″ and 205 pounds athlete and the North Carolina Gatorade Football Player of the Year seem to have impressed Breneman.

The analyst did not inch before dishing out a confident claim, “Davis might be the future of Michigan Football.” The third thing that needs Moore’s attention is the coaching roster. Moving into 2024 being the defending champions a year before, the Wolverines failed to spread the rage. That’s because of their struggling offense.

Have an interesting take?

In 2024, the Michigan offense has been one of the worst in all of college football. The numbers- 112th rank in points per game, 113th rank in yards per play and it continued. Heartbreaking, right? But Sherrone Moore hardly cares, as he now runs blindly after that one big goal to rise up from the No.10 spot to the top 5 spot in the recruitment game. High time for the HC to not get blindsided by the big picture and bench the basics!
