It looks like Sherrone Moore’s Michigan Wolverines are not coming off well in terms of gameplay and strong defense in their upcoming match against the USC Trojans. There is growing tension around Michigan’s uncertain position in their upcoming match against the Trojans.
Today, media personality Josh Pate was discussing the odds of Michigan vs. USC on his YouTube channel, Josh Pate’s College Football Show. Josh said while discussing USC’s powerful defense and his edge over the Wolverines in their upcoming faceoff. “Defense, defense, defense—kind of with a back-against-the-wall mentality at home, and the line’s under a touchdown and all the energy publicly is USC. Not only do they have Deanton Lynn as the new defensive coordinator there, he gets an extra week.” Based on the Michigan Wolverines’ recent game against Arkansas with a remarkable win of 28-18, the prediction doesn’t bode well for head coach Sherrone Moore.
Coming to Michigan’s team alignment Pete also talked about quarterback Alex Orji’s position in the game, saying, “Alex Orji being quarterback, now starting quarterback for Michigan, as I said the other night, kind of removes, let me back up, it should remove a lot of the guesswork about what Michigan is.” Michigan received a boost from Orji’s contribution. His exceptional performance gave Michigan an edge against the AR state. In the second quarter, Alex ran for an 80-yard drive with a 9-yard touchdown pass to tight end Hogan Hansen. Alex finished 2 out of 4 passing runs for 12 yards by adding 27 yards on three rushing attempts. Even then, Pete wants to remove him. However, Sherrone Moore has already decided his fate for their upcoming match against the Trojans.

Sherrone Moore on Alex Orji’s position in the team
It might come as a shocker, but quarterback Alex Orji was never a first choice for HC Sherrone Moore. After quarterback David Warren’s several turnovers during Michigan’s last week’s matchup against Arkansas State. Moore decided to bench Warren for freshman Alex Orji. It turns out Moore was right in making that decision. As Michigan’s underwhelming performance this season, especially after an embarrassing loss of 13-31 against the Texas Longhorns, this win was quite important for the team.
Even though Josh Pete wants to remove Alex Orji from Michigan, head coach Sherrone Moore has high hopes for him. During a recent interview, Moore announced Alex Orji as a starting quarterback for their Week 4 game against the Trojans. “For us, the players to see me announce it to everybody else, understand the confidence I have in Alex.” Well, let’s hope Alex Orji maintains his gameplay against the USC Trojans star quarterback, Miller Moss. However, looking at their undefeatable track record of 2-0 against the spread following their victories over LSU and a dominant 48-0 win over Utah State, Michigan might have a tough game. We’ll see if Sherrone Moore’s decision can enhance the team’s alignment in the next game and prove Josh’s prediction wrong.
