The Michigan Wolverines didn’t get to celebrate their 28-18 win over Arkansas State. Who thought the new head coach, Sherrone Moore, who was praised for his decisions in the season opener, would be questioned for his decision-making abilities after the season’s first loss against the Texas Longhorns? After Week 3, Michigan is facing serious problems with its quarterback position. Moore thought Davis Warren would be the right option after J.J. McCarthy, but unfortunately, his plans have yet to work.

Clayton Sayfie, the staff writer for TheWolverine.com, tweeted that Sherrone Moore is hinting that Alex Orji might be the top choice to start in the next game. After mistakes by Warren, Sherrone Moore decided to let Alex Orji take over as quarterback. Alex took advantage of the opportunity and completed 2 out of 4 passes for 12 yards. He also scored one touchdown and added 27 rushing yards. For the upcoming games, Moore said, “Yeah. I mean, I think right now Alex will, Alex will play. We’ll see how practice goes and goes from there; Davis will be in there, but he just has to take care of the football. Our defense is going to be really good, and we put him in good positions of being better.”

Moore’s comments show that he and his team are being careful, and fans can hope that Michigan will come back stronger. Although Orji played well and proved that he deserves to be on the team, the coaches will still keep an eye on him during practice and make sure their decision to rely on him is going to work in the team’s favor. On the other hand, Warren needs to work on his mistakes and come back stronger. The Wolverines will face USC in their Week 4 game and finding a stable QB can be their key to success.

Michigan won by 10 points over Arkansas State on Saturday. Just forget about Warren for a second because Sherrone Moore did have a star on his offense. Kalel Mullings rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns. Those rushing TDs couldn’t have come at a better time for Moore. The Wolverines did not record any rushing TD in their first two games. The run game and Michigan’s defense meant that the game was all but over in the first three quarters. Warrens had three interceptions, one in each of the first three quarters, but he struggled and made mistakes, and Orji had to step in. He threw for a 9-yard touchdown pass to Hogan Hansen and helped the Wolverines get to a lead of 28-3 in the fourth quarter.

Arkansas tried hard to bounce back, although they were four points behind for most of the second quarter after Clune Van Andel made a 27-yard field goal for them. Andel missed two attempts in the first half. Jaylen Raynor tried hard to reduce the Wolverines’ 18-point lead. He reached the 20-yard line, but his pass was interrupted by Makari Paige late in the third quarter. The visitors did put some points on the board in the 4th quarter, but they weren’t enough to cover the gap. Now, a bigger challenge awaits Moore in the form of Lincoln Riley’s USC Trojans. When the two meet, Riley will be the happier one as he has a stable QB in the form of Miller Moss. Who do you think has an edge in Week 4? Let us in the comments!
