Can Donovan Edwards overcome his fumbles to become Michigan's next big star? What do you think?

I’ve always been the No. 1 back; I’ve always been having my number called on,” said Donovan Edwards, before entering the 2024 season as a senior running back. Throughout his football journey, he has proven his worth, starting from West Bloomfield High School and continuing through his college years with the Michigan Wolverines. Even before the SEC championship started, everyone predicted Donovan would be a crucial player for the team. However, his performance in the game between Michigan and Fresno State was not per his high standards. However, head coach Sherrone Moore came forward to support Donovan Edwards, given his past performances for the Wolverines.

After the departure of key players like Blake Corum, who got drafted into the NFL, it was time for Donovan to carve his name, but during Michigan’s season opener, he was slower than expected. He saw only 11 carries for just 27 yards, while his other teammates did well. There are players like Kale Mullings, who contributed with 15 carries for 92 yards. Edwards struggled through the game with few holes opening up and might just not know the holes better in the playoff against Fresno State.

In his interaction with the media, Moore said, “Yeah, I think Donovan had 11, Kalel had 15, and if Donovan doesn’t get one of them called back, you know, he’s got more yardage.” Taking a positive approach, he added. “So, all those things will happen to him. He’s a confident kid, and we know he’s a really outstanding player. He showed up in big moments for us. So not worried about his confidence.” Moore also acknowledged the teamwork by saying, “It’s one person here, one thing there, and those things are close.” He explained that these minor improvements make a strong team. Moore highlighted Edwards’ contributions to the team, especially his last year’s performance.
